''Storia de fratelli e de cortelli'' (''A story of brothers and knives'') is a 1973 Italian comedy-drama film written and directed by Mario Amendola. Plot Gigi and Nino Romagnoli are two brothers living in Rome at the beginning of the 20th century. Gigi, young and handsome, engaged to Rosetta, falls in love with Mara, a young woman who is accustomed to luxury and refinement. In order to satisfy the woman’s desire, Gigi start stealing and going into all serious. Mario Amendola
Mario Natalino Concetto Amendola (8 December 1910 – 22 December 1993) was an Italian screenwriter, film director and dramatist. Biography Amendola was born in Recco, which is located in Genova to parents from Rome. He began his career on stage in 1931 as a writer for avanspettacolo shows. During that time, he wrote dialogue for Erminio Macario, Totò and more. He ended this profession and moved to cinema in 1949. He wrote for 153 films between 1941 and 1987. He also directed 37 films between 1949 and 1975. Amendola collaborated with Bruno Corbucci on conceiving the Nico Giraldi film series starring Tomas Milian. Amendola died in 1993 from complications from diabetes. Franco Citti
Franco Citti (; 23 April 1935 – 14 January 2016) was an Italian actor, best known as one of the close collaborators of director Pier Paolo Pasolini. He came to fame for playing the title role in Pasolini's film ''Accattone'', which brought him a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Foreign Actor. He subsequently starred in six of Pasolini's films, as well as 60 other film and television roles. His brother was the director and screenwriter Sergio Citti. Biography Citti was born in Fiumicino in 1935 and was raised with his older brother Sergio Citti, working as a painter and day laborer. At the age of 26, he was discovered by Pier Paolo Pasolini, who appreciated his distinctly Roman features, and cast him in the title role of his 1961 directorial debut ''Accattone''.
