Stopiče (; german: Stopitsch''Leksikon občin kraljestev in dežel zastopanih v državnem zboru,'' vol. 6: ''Kranjsko''. 1906. Vienna: C. Kr. Dvorna in Državna Tiskarna, p. 162.) is a village in the foothills of the Gorjanci range in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto, in southeastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. Name The name ''Stopiče'', like related place names (e.g., '' Stopče'', '' Stope''), is probably derived from the Slovene common noun ''stopa'' 'stamp mill', used for hulling grain. In the past the German name was ''Stopitsch''. History A part-time school was set up in Stopiče in 1846, and a regular school was established in 1852 in the rectory. A schoolhouse was built in 1902. Gornja Težka Voda () is a settlement in the foothills of the Gorjanci Range in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. Name The names ''Gornja Težka Voda'' and neighboring ''Dolnja Težka Voda'' literally mean 'upper' and 'lower heavy water/creek', respectively. The name is derived from the creek north of the settlements, known as ''Težka voda'' (Heavy Creek), and was later transferred to the villages. The settlements were first recorded in German written records as ''Swernwazzer'' in 1393 (and as ''Swernwasser'' in 1439, and ''vom Swarem wasser'' in 1477). Michael Stroy (Slovenized: ''Mihael Stroj'', 30 September 1803 in Ljubno – 19 December 1871 in Ljubljana) was an Austro-Hungarian painter of Slovenian origin. Life Michael Stroy was born the fifth of eight children to Anton Stroy and his wife Maria, née Kokail. He spent his childhood in Ljubno in Upper Carniola. In 1812, his mother died of exhaustion. Shortly thereafter, his father remarried, sold his property in Ljubno and moved to Ljubljana with his family. Michael Stroy attended the ''Glavna vzorna šola'', where he completed the fourth class in 1817 with very good grades. He then joined the so-called artists' class, which he concluded in 1820 with distinction. He continued his schooling in Vienna, where he enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in 1821. The first of his works known to have survived, a sketch of a head and a self-portrait, date from this period. A summary execution is an execution in which a person is accused of a crime and immediately killed without the benefit of a full and fair trial. Executions as the result of summary justice (such as a drumhead court-martial) are sometimes included, but the term generally refers to capture, accusation, and execution all conducted within a very short period of time, and without any trial.
