Stony Run is a tributary stream of Jones Falls in Baltimore, Maryland. The stream headwaters are in north Baltimore near the city boundary. The stream flows southward about through several park areas - including Friends School of Baltimore-and the neighborhood of Wyman Park, and enters a culvert before emptying into Jones Falls near Druid Hill Park Druid Hill Park is a urban park in northwest Baltimore, Maryland. It is impounded to create Lake Roland before running through the city of Baltimore and finally emptying into the Baltimore Inner Harbor. The Jones Falls valley has a long history in the city of Baltimore as a transportation corridor. The valley of the Jones Falls carries Falls Road (which is numbered as Maryland Route 25), the tracks for the Amtrak Northeast Corridor, the Jones Falls Expressway (JFX) of Interstate 83 in Maryland, Interstate 83, and the Baltimore Light Rail. The Baltimore Penn Station also rests on an elevated platform in the valley. It also carries tracks for a historic rail line which is currently served by the Baltimore Streetcar Museum. Wyman Park, Baltimore
The community of Wyman Park is a border community that links Hampden to Roland Park. All of the Wyman Park areas were annexed to Baltimore City in 1888. The general boundaries consist of the area from south to north between 33rd Street and 40th Streets and west to east from Keswick Road to Wyman Park, which includes the southern portion of the Stony Run Trail. South of 40th Street, garden apartments, multi-story apartment buildings, and single-family residences have been built. People here tend to relate to the north along 40th Street and University Parkway and Johns Hopkins University. Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, this land remained attached to large rural estates, and the only settlement of note occurred in the adjacent Stony Run valley. Here, along the stream's west bank, two flour mills once operated. It is believed that one mill, Ensor's, was located opposite 36th Street.
