Stoney Units
In physics the Stoney units form a system of units named after the Irish physicist George Johnstone Stoney, who first proposed them in 1881. They are the earliest example of natural units, i.e., a coherent set of units of measurement designed so that chosen physical constants fully define and are included in the set. Units The constants that Stoney used to define his set of units is the following: * ''c'', the speed of light in a vacuum, * ''G'', the gravitational constant, * ''k''e = 1/(4''πε''0), the Coulomb constant, * ''e'', the elementary charge. This means that the numerical values of all these constants, when expressed in coherent Stoney units, is equal one: : ''c'' = 1 ''l''S⋅''t''S−1 :''G'' = 1 ''l''S3⋅''t''S−2⋅''m''S−1 :''k''e = 1 ''l''S3⋅''t''S−2⋅''m''S⋅''q''S−2 :''e'' = 1 ''q''S In Stoney units, the numerical value of the reduced Planck constant is :\hbar = \frac ~l_\text^2t_\text^m_\text \approx 137.036 ~l_\text^2t_\text^m_\text^, where '' ...

Assiniboine Language
The Assiniboine language (also known as Assiniboin, Hohe, or Nakota, Nakoda, Nakon or Nakona, or Stoney) is a Nakotan Siouan language of the Northern Plains. The name Assiniboine comes from the term ''Asiniibwaan'', from Ojibwe, meaning "Stone Siouans". The reason they were called this was that Assiniboine people used heated stone to boil their food. In Canada, Assiniboine people are known as Stoney Indians, while they called themselves Nakota or Nakoda, meaning "allies"''.'' Classification The Dakotan group of the Siouan family has five main divisions: Dakota (Santee-Sisseton), Dakota (Yankton-Yanktonai), Lakota (Teton), Nakoda (Assiniboine) and Nakoda (Stoney).Miller, D., Smith, D., McGeshick, J. Stoney Language
Stoney—also called Nakota, Nakoda, Isga, and formerly Alberta Assiniboine—is a member of the Dakota subgroup of the Mississippi Valley grouping of the Siouan languages. The Dakotan languages constitute a dialect continuum consisting of Santee-Sisseton (Dakota), Yankton-Yanktonai (Dakota), Teton (Lakota), Assiniboine, and Stoney. Stoney is the most linguistically divergent of the Dakotan dialects and has been described as “on the verge of becoming a separate language”. The Stoneys are the only Siouan people that live entirely in Canada, and the Stoney language is spoken by five groups in Alberta. No official language survey has been undertaken for every community where Stoney is spoken, but the language may be spoken by as many as a few thousand people, primarily at the Morley community. Relationship to Assiniboine Stoney’s closest linguistic relative is Assiniboine. The two have often been confused with each other due to their close historical and linguistic relationsh ...

Nakoda (Stoney)
The Nakoda (also known as Stoney or ) are an Indigenous people in Western Canada and, originally, the United States. They used to inhabit large parts of what is now Alberta, Saskatchewan and Montana, but their reserves are now located in Alberta and in Saskatchewan, where they are scarcely differentiated from the Assiniboine. Through their language they are related to the Dakota and Lakota nations of the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains, part of the large Sioux Nation. They refer to themselves in their own language as " Nakoda", meaning ''friend'', ''ally''. The name "Stoney" was given them by white explorers, because of their technique of using fire-heated rocks to boil broth in rawhide bowls. They are very closely related to the Assiniboine, who are also known as ''Stone Sioux'' (from the Ojibwe ). Alberta's Nakoda First Nation comprises three bands: Bearspaw, Chiniki and Wesley. The Stoney were "excluded" from Banff National Park between 1890 and 1920. In 2010 the ...
