Stonewall, also known as Lewis House and Little Falls Plantation, is a historic plantation house located near Rocky Mount, Nash County, North Carolina. It was built about 1830, and is a two-story, five bay, Federal style brick dwelling. It sits on a raised basement and has a high hipped roof. The front facade features a pedimented Ionic order portico added in 1915. Federal Architecture
Federal-style architecture is the name for the classicizing architecture built in the newly founded United States between 1780 and 1830, and particularly from 1785 to 1815, which was heavily based on the works of Andrea Palladio with several innovations on Palladian architecture by Thomas Jefferson and his contemporaries first for Jefferson's Monticello estate and followed by many examples in government building throughout the United States. The Ionic order is one of the three canonic orders of classical architecture, the other two being the Doric and the Corinthian.
