Stolen Recordings
Stolen Recordings is a British independent record label founded by two musicians, Paul Jones and Mérida Sussex and one artist, Rachael Robb, and is based in Tottenham, London. Stolen's first release was in May 2005. In 2009 they founded a publishing company, in association with Beggars Music, called "Stolen Publishing". Stolen's releases include albums by Thomas Cohen, Bo Ningen, East India Youth, Pete and The Pirates, and Serafina Steer. Stolen Recordings won the Award for "Best Small Label" at the inaugural AIM Awards on 10 November 2011. Pete And The Pirates
Pete and the Pirates were an English indie rock band from Reading, Berkshire, England. The band consisted of Thomas Sanders (vocals), Peter Hefferan (vocals and guitar), David Thorpe (guitar), Peter Cattermoul (bass) and Jonny Sanders (drums). History Beginnings and ''Get Even'' EP (2004-2005) Brothers Tommy Sanders and Jonny Sanders grew up playing music together at home in their early teens. Jonny later played in a band with Guitarist David Thorpe while attending Maiden Erlegh School in Reading. It was not until they all left school that they met with Bassist Peter Cattermoul and Guitarist Peter Hefferan, who had also played music together in their late teens, that the band was formed. Initially, the lineup did not include Tommy Sanders and was fronted by Peter Hefferan. Mathew Sawyer
Mathew John Sawyer (born 1977, Hammersmith, England) is a British visual artist and musician, who lives and works in London. Sawyer studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art in London. His band Mathew Sawyer and The Ghosts were signed to Fire Records. They have three albums available: ''Blue Birds Blood'' (2007) originally released on Stolen Recordings and Catbird Records (US), ''How Snakes Eat'' (2010) and ''Sleep Dreamt A Brother'' (2013). Sawyer was a member of Television Personalities for their 2006 album '' My Dark Places'', released on Domino Records. In 2007, Mathew Sawyer and The Ghosts played the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the Meltdown Festival, curated by Jarvis Cocker. Race Horses (band)
Race Horses were a Welsh band based in Cardiff, Wales and originally from Aberystwyth. Formed in 2005 as Radio Luxembourg, they changed their name in 2009 due to possible legal problems with the radio station of the same name. Initially the majority of their music was in Welsh, but their final album ''Furniture'' was entirely in English. After appearing across Wales and during the debut Festival N°6, the band announced their split in January 2013 and performed a farewell gig the following month at Clwb Ifor Bach. After Race Horses Gwion Llewelyn has been the drummer for Yr Ods and performs live with Aldous Harding, Baxter Dury, Meilyr Jones, Alys Williams and others. Grimm Grimm
Grimm Grimm is a solo project of London-based musician, recording artist and producer, Koichi Yamanoha. He has released three solo albums, and six singles on independent labels since 2014. Grimm Grimm has collaborated with other artists, including Lætitia Sadier, Le Volume Courbe, Daisy Dickinson, Bo Ningen, Victor Herrero, Killer-Bong and Klein. History Yamanoha is originally from Tokyo, Japan and is the former frontman of psychedelic-punk group, Screaming Tea Party (2006-2010) in London. The band has released 2 EPs through Stolen Recordings in the United Kingdom, and disbanded in October 2010. Let's Wrestle were an English indie rock band based in London. The band consisted of Wesley Patrick Gonzalez (vocals and guitar), Mike Lightning (bass) and Louis Scase A.K.A Darkus Bishop (drums). History Gonzalez, bassist Mike Hankin (also known as Mike Lightning) and drummer Darkus Bishop formed the band in 2005. Their debut 7" single "Song for ABBA Tribute Band" was released only two years later on Marquis Cha Cha Records. According to AllMusic, "it gained them fans in the British music scene, including Art Brut's Eddie Argos, to whom Gonzalez (whose stepfather is musician Pete Astor) was often compared". Serafina Steer
Serafina Steer (born 30 April 1982) is an English harpist, pianist, singer and songwriter. Early life and education Steer is the daughter of composer Michael Maxwell Steer and stage designer Deirdre Clancy. She started learning the harp at age seven and graduated from Trinity College of Music with first-class honours. Career In 2007 Steer released a 7" single and an album entitled ''Cheap Demo Bad Science'' on Static Caravan records. Some tracks were recorded and produced in collaboration with Mike Lindsay of folktronica band Tunng, while some were recorded with Kristian Robinson, aka Capitol K. The album opens with a cover version of Brian Eno's "By This River" but all other songs are her own. In 2010 she released ''Change is Good, Change is Good'', again on Static Caravan. JEFF the Brotherhood is an American two-piece rock band consisting of brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall, hailing from Nashville, Tennessee. East India Youth
William Doyle (born 29 January 1991), formerly known by his stage name East India Youth, is an English musician originally from Bournemouth, England. Doyle released his first solo album, ''Born in the USB'', in 2009, and was the leader of the indie pop group Doyle and the Fourfathers, whose sole studio album ''Man Made'' was released in 2011. His debut album as East India Youth, '' Total Strife Forever'', was released by Stolen Recordings on 13 January 2014. It was nominated for the 2014 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize Album of the Year award, as well as the Independent Album of the Year award at the 2014 AIM Independent Music Awards.
