Stolen Apples is the twenty fifth album by Australian singer-songwriter Paul Kelly and was released in July 2007 on EMI Music. The album was Kelly's first solo album since '' Ways & Means'' in 2004, and features religious themes throughout. It peaked at No. 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Background The song "You're 39, You're Beautiful and You're Mine" was a Kelly song originally written for Tex, Don and Charlie (Tex Perkins, Don Walker and Charlie Owen) "Tex and I were doing a gig in Melbourne at the Famous Spiegeltent and Paul was playing later on the same day. Peter Luscombe
Peter Luscombe is an Australian drummer and composer. Career Luscombe was a member of The Black Sorrows from 1985 to 1993 appearing on the albums ''A Place in the World'' (1986), ''Dear Children'' (1987), ''Hold on to Me'' (1988), ''Harley and Rose'' (1990), ''Better Times'' (1993). He worked with Stephen Cummings as a member of Stephen Cummings' Lovetown, and the Stephen Cummings Band. He joined Rebecca's Empire which was formed by Rebecca Barnard and Shane O'Mara (both also part of Cummings' backing bands). Slide Guitar
Slide guitar is a technique for playing the guitar that is often used in blues music. It involves playing a guitar while holding a hard object (a slide) against the strings, creating the opportunity for glissando effects and deep vibratos that reflect characteristics of the human singing voice. Daniel O Kelly (born Daniel Kelly; 1974), known as Dan Kelly, is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist. He has released music as part of Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males. Biography 1974–1999: Early Years Dan Kelly grew up in Queensland, on the Gold Coast, attended a Catholic school, in Beenleigh, and was the second oldest of six children. "God Told Me To" is the first single from Australian songwriter Paul Kelly's album ''Stolen Apples''. The song deals with a fictional character called John Johanna, on trial for murder. To explain his actions, John defends himself by saying that God told him to do this. The song features biblical imagery. Video The video for the song was first aired on ABC music video show ''Rage'' in June 2007. The video was directed by Natasha Pinkus, and was filmed in a single shot. The video was nominated for a Dendy award at the 2007 Sydney Film Festival and won the 2007 Inside Film Award for 'Best Music Video'.
