Stobbe
1847 Stobbe, provisional designation , is an asteroid from the middle region of the asteroid belt, approximately 23 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 1 February 1916, by Danish astronomer Holger Thiele at Bergedorf Observatory in Hamburg, Germany. The asteroid was later named for German astronomer Joachim Otto Stobbe, Joachim Stobbe. Orbit and classification ''Stobbe'' orbits the Sun in the Kirkwood gap, central main-belt at a distance of 2.6–2.7 Astronomical unit, AU once every 4 years and 3 months (1,540 days). Its orbit has an orbital eccentricity, eccentricity of 0.02 and an orbital inclination, inclination of 11Degree (angle), ° with respect to the ecliptic. The body's observation arc begins with its official discovery observation at Bergedorf. Its first (unused) identification as was made at Heidelberg Observatory in 1902. Holger Thiele
Holger Thiele (September 25, 1878 – June 5, 1946) was a Danish American astronomer and discoverer of minor planets and comets. He was the son of Thorvald Nicolai Thiele (1838–1910), the noted Danish astronomer, actuary and mathematician, after whom the main-belt asteroid 1586 Thiele is named. Holger Thiele is credited by the Minor Planet Center with the discovery of 4 numbered asteroids during 1914–1916. He also discovered the comet C/1906 V1 and calculated the orbits of other comets. He worked at Hamburg-Bergedorf Observatory at Bergedorf, in Hamburg, Germany. In 1912, he immigrated to the United States. In 1917, he started working as a fellow for the University of California at Lick Observatory, near San Jose, California.
