Eddie Stobart Group is a British multimodal logistics company, with interests in road haulage, rail freight, deep sea and inland waterway transport systems and deep sea port, inland port and rail connected storage facilities, along with transport, handling and warehousing facilities in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium. Stobart Rail Freight Ltd (trading as Stobart Rail) was a railway freight service operator in the United Kingdom. It came under the Rail division of Eddie Stobart Logistics, and carried intermodal freight for the group. On 19 September 2006, Stobart Rail launched its inaugural daily freight service for a three-year deal to deliver cross-border goods for the British retailer Tesco. The service was initially operated by Direct Rail Services (DRS), which provided both the locomotives and traincrew; Stobart supplied the shipping container and depot facilities. Chuck Stobart
Charles R. Stobart (October 27, 1932 – November 29, 2022) was an American college football player and coach. He played as a quarterback at Ohio University in the 1950s. He was a football coach at various schools for 42 years from 1959 to 2000, including 36 consecutive seasons as a coach at Division I collegiate programs. Stobart began his coaching career in 1959 as a high school coach in Ohio. His college coaching positions included stints as the head football coach at the University of Toledo (1977–1981), the University of Utah (1982–1984), and the University of Memphis (1989–1994). Edward Stobart (21 November 1954 – 31 March 2011) was a British haulage company owner who first became involved with his father's company aged 15 in 1969, and subsequently expanded it into one of the UK's most well known multimodal logistics companies, Stobart Group. Edward died on 31 March 2011 in a Coventry hospital of what was termed 'heart problems'. Edward Pears Stobart (born 18 April 1929), better known as Eddie Stobart, is a British businessman who started an agriculture business in the late 1940s. This became ''Eddie Stobart Ltd'' in 1970 and expanded to a haulage company during the 1970s with the help of his late son Edward Stobart who gradually took over the running of the company. John Stobart
John Stobart (born 1929) is a British maritime artist known for his paintings of American harbour scenes during the Golden Age of Sail. Early life Stobart was born in Leicester in 1929; his mother died from a seizure as a complication of the birth. He was brought up in Allestree and Weston Underwood, Derbyshire, and was educated at Derby Grammar School. Stobart's adored brother, George, told him, late in life, that he, John, was "drawing ALL the time on any scrap of paper you could find, from the age of 6". Stobart struggled academically, but showed a talent for painting. Despite lacking the appropriate educational qualifications, he was able to enrol at Derby School of Art in 1946 as a result of the influence of his father, a prominent pharmacist in Derby.
