Brad Stine (born 1958) is an American tennis coach from Fresno, California. He coached former no.1 ATP player Jim Courier. Coaching history Junior coaching (6 years) Brad Stine started coaching with the USTA in 1986 as a member of the US junior national team along with Greg Patton. During that time the junior national team (Junior Davis Cup Team) included Jim Courier, Pete Sampras, Michael Chang, MaliVai Washington, Todd Martin, Jonathan Stark, Jared Palmer, David Wheaton, and Jeff Tarango, who all reached top 100 ATP ranking, and many other notable players. Charles Milton Altland Stine (18 October 1882 – 28 May 1954) was a chemist and a vice-president of DuPont who created the laboratory from which nylon and other significant inventions were made. He was also a devout Christian who authored a book about religion and science. Stine was born in Norwich, Connecticut to Lutheran clergyman Milton Henry Stine and his wife Mary Jane Altland. He received his BS and MS degrees from Gettysburg college and then received a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1907, Stine began work in DuPont's research laboratories on a project to make explosives safer to handle. Lee Elbert Stine (November 17, 1913 – May 6, 2005) was an American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Chicago White Sox (1934–35), Cincinnati Reds (1936) and New York Yankees (1938). Stine was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He signed with the San Francisco Seals of the Pacific Coast League when he was just 16. Eventually, he debuted in the major leagues with the Chicago White Sox in 1934. In a four-season career, he posted a 3–8 record with 39 strikeouts and a 5.09 ERA in 143 innings. Stine is best known for his historic role in pitching Lou Gehrig's 14th grand slam in 1934. After two years in Chicago, he played for the Reds in 1936, compiling a career high 121 innings with a 3–8 record and a 5.03 ERA.
