''Cuddle'' is an extended play by the American punk rock band Stikky. It was released on 7-inch vinyl in Switzerland only in August 1988 through Off the Disk Records. The extended play was recorded, mixed, and engineered in 4 hours at Art of Ears Studios in San Francisco, California on May 29, 1988. Due to many fans in the United States requesting copies of ''Cuddle'', the group re-released it through bassist Chris Dodge's label Slap-a-Ham Records, Slap a Ham Records in October 1988. Turn It Around!
''Turn It Around!'' is a punk rock compilation album by ''Maximumrocknroll''. Originally released as two 7-inch records in October 1987, it served as a benefit to raise money for the Berkeley, California DIY punk scene (known as the Gilman Street Project). The compilation featured the first appearances of many bands who would later become well known outside of the scene, including Operation Ivy, Crimpshrine and Isocracy. Due to the poor sound quality of the original 7-inch version, ''Turn It Around!'' was reissued by Very Small Records in September 1991 as one LP. However, the compilation is currently out of print and has never seen a CD release. In retrospect, it has been cited as an important compilation album and served as an introduction to a number of the bands, most of which would go on to release albums on the then-newly formed Lookout Records. Slap-a-Ham Records
Slap a Ham Records was an independent label from San Francisco owned and operated by Chris Dodge, bassist of the band Spazz as well as others. The label is generally seen as a highly influential entity within the hardcore punk scene in California during the 1980s and 1990s, for the label issued releases by groups such as Crossed Out, Man Is the Bastard, Capitalist Casualties, among others. It is also considered to have played an important role in the development of powerviolence, a dissonant style of hardcore that is similar to grindcore and thrashcore. The label also issued early releases by well-known groups such as the Melvins and Eyehategod. The label lasted for about 13 years, officially shutting down in 2002. According to Dodge, this was due because of the September 11 attacks; "After the attacks, everyone stopped spending money" and as a result, Slap a Ham faced stagnate commerce, causing Dodge to go into debt. No Use for a Name (sometimes abbreviated NUFAN or No Use) was an American punk rock band from Sunnyvale, California, United States formed in 1986 by Chris Dodge (guitar), Steve Papoutsis ( bass) and Rory Koff (drums). The band's sound evolved considerably through its career, starting off as a Bay Area-influenced punk band, moving on to a much heavier metallic-tinted sound to finally taking on a much lighter brand of melodic punk as the years passed. The band's career ended in 2012 following Tony Sly's death on July 31 of that year. History No Use For a Name was formed in 1986 by longtime friends Dodge, Papoutsis and Koff. The early rehearsals of the band had taken place at a warehouse in Sunnyvale owned by Koff's father, where they also came up with the name for the band. MDC is an American punk rock band formed in 1979 in Austin, Texas, subsequently based in San Francisco, and currently Portland, Oregon. Among the first wave of bands to define the sound and style of American hardcore punk, MDC originally formed as The Stains; they have periodically changed the meaning of "MDC", the most frequent being Millions of Dead Cops. The band's lyrical content expresses radical left political views and has proven influential within the punk subculture. MDC released material through ex-Dead Kennedys singer Jello Biafra's independent label Alternative Tentacles. In the 1990s, vocalist Dave Dictor published editorials for the internationally distributed fanzine ''Maximumrocknroll''. "Top of the World" is a 1972 song written and composed by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis and first recorded by American pop duo Carpenters.
