Ålesund
Ålesund () sometimes spelled Aalesund in English, is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal County, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Sunnmøre and the centre of the Ålesund Region. The town of Ålesund is the administrative centre of Ålesund Municipality, as well as the principal shipping town of the Sunnmøre district. Erik Nylander
Johan Erik Nylander (born 3 April 1981 in Norberg, Sweden) is a Swedish jazz musician (drums), improviser and composer, working in Norway since 2002. He plays in several bands, among them Ola Kvernberg Trio, "Kobert", Kirsti Huke Quartet, Tore Brunborg Trio, "Liarbird", Bjørn Alterhaug Quintet, "Peloton", Juxtaposed, Magic Pocket, "Monoswezi", and his own Erik Nylanders Orkester. Career After completing high school at Domarhagsskolan, Nylander studied on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (2002–04). He fold recognition on the Norwegian and Nordic jazz scenes within various projects and contributed on a number of releases, among them the album ''Corrupted Mirror'' (2009), in a meeting with Karl Stømme (trumpet) and Steinar Nickelsen (keyboard). NorCD
NorCD (established 1991 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label for folk, jazz, world music and improvisational music, led by the founder saxophonist and composer Karl Seglem. NorCD is distributed through Musikkoperatørene, and is a member of FONO. Biography In 1991 Karl Seglem decided to create a new free record label to distribute his music. The company soon enlisted a number of Norwegian performers in different genres. A derivation of the company was the label SOFA, which focused on the European improv, led by Ingar Zach and Ivar Grydeland. The NorCD catalog features 110 CD-titles (spring 2012) with many of the foremost Norwegian jazz and folk musicians. Louis Sclavis (born 2 February 1953) is a French jazz musician. He performs on clarinet, bass clarinet, and soprano saxophone in a variety of contexts, including avant-garde jazz, free jazz, free improvisation and contemporary classical. Life and career He was born in Lyon, France. Sclavis played with the Henri Texier Quartet. He has won numerous awards, including: the PRIX DJANGO REINHARDT “best French jazz musician” (1988); First Prize in the Barcelona Biennale (1989); the British Jazz award at the Midem for “Best Foreign Artist” (1990/91); the DJANGO D’OR “Best French jazz record of the year” (1993); and the GRAND PRIX SACEM 2009. Marita Røstad
Marita Røstad (born 5 November 1978 in Gjøvik, Norway) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and jazz vocalist from Aust-Torpa, known as a band leader and for her well-received solo album. Career Røstad studied vocals in the jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonsevatorium (2000–04), where she started her own band including fellow students. She graduated in 2004 and combined her musical career with working as a song-teacher at Trondheim music school, before moving to Oslo where she started her own record label entitled "Magica Records", releasing her debut album ''Silent Sunday'' in 2007, including Stian Omenås (trumpet), Håvard Stubø (guitar), Gard Nilssen (drums) and Rune Nergaard (bass).
