Stewart Littlewood
Stewart Christopher Littlewood (7 January 1905 – 2 February 1977) was an English footballer who played as a centre-forward for Holmfield Mission, Hardwich Colliery, Chesterfield, Matlock Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Luton Town, Port Vale, Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic, and Altrincham. Career Early career Littlewood played for Holmfield Mission and Hardwich Colliery, before he joined of the Chesterfield Third Division North in January 1924. Having failed to make a first-team appearance for the "Spireites", he returned to non-League football with Matlock Town. He gained another chance in the English Football League with Second Division side Sheffield Wednesday in January 1925, but left Hillsborough at the end of the 1924–25 season without featuring in a first-team game. He signed with Luton Town in July 1925 and scored two goals in six Third Division South games, before his release at the end of the 1925–26 season. He had a trial at Alfreton Town in October 1926. Treeton
Treeton is a village and civil parish of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England. It is located about south of the town of Rotherham and east of Sheffield City Centre. History There is evidence of Mesolithic and Neolithic settlement in this area. In 1954 a Neolithic polished stone axe was found at Gregory Hill Field, and in 1957 Mesolithic flint cores were found in Treeton Wood. There was a Roman fort at Templeborough, about north west of Treeton, and remnants of the Roman road called Icknield Street (sometimes Ryknild or Riknild Street) have been found in nearby Brinsworth. The name ''Treeton'' is Old English in origin and may mean 'tree farmstead' or 'farmstead built with posts'. The earliest known written record of Treeton is the ''Domesday book'' of 1086, in which it is referred to as ''Trectone'' or ''Tretone''. Transfer (association Football)
In professional football, a transfer is the action taken whenever a player under contract moves between clubs. It refers to the transferring of a player's registration from one association football club to another. In general, the players can only be transferred during a transfer window and according to the rules set by a governing body (fulfilling the requirements of FIFA, continental and national bodies regulating the purchasing and selling clubs). A negotiated transfer fee is agreed financial compensation paid from an interested club, to the club that possesses the player's exclusive contracted playing rights. When a player moves from one club to another, their old contract is terminated whilst the player and their new destination club will both negotiate on new contract terms (or have earlier mutually agreed on the personal terms). Millwall is a district on the western and southern side of the Isle of Dogs, in east London, England, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Fulham () is an area of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham in West London, England, southwest of Charing Cross. Hat-trick
A hat-trick or hat trick is the achievement of a generally positive feat three times in a match, or another achievement based on the number three. Origin The term first appeared in 1858 in cricket, to describe H. H. Stephenson taking three wickets with three consecutive deliveries. Fans held a collection for Stephenson, and presented him with a hat bought with the proceeds. The term was used in print for the first time in 1865 in the ''Chelmsford Chronicle''. Wilf Kirkham
Wilfred Thomas Kirkham (26 November 1901 – 20 October 1974) was an English footballer who holds four goalscoring records at Port Vale. His 153 league goals and 164 goals in all competitions are both records, as his tally of 38 goals in the 1926–27 season and his total tally of 13 competitive hat-tricks. A cousin of Tom Holford, he was noted for his "Kirkham Special" hook shots, intelligent football and prolific scoring record. After spending time with Cobridge Church and Congleton Town, he graduated as a teacher. Splitting his time between teaching and playing football, he turned professional with Port Vale in 1923. After six prolific seasons with the "Valiants", he was sold on to rivals Stoke City for a £2,800 fee after the Vale suffered relegation out of the Second Division. In sports, a reserve team is a team composed of players under contract to a club but who do not normally play in matches for the first team. Reserve teams often include back-up players from the first team, young players who need playing time to improve their skills, as well as members of the first team recovering from injury. In some countries, reserve or development teams compete in entirely separate competitions from first teams, while some countries allow reserve teams or farm teams to compete in the same league system as their club's first team, although usually in separate divisions. In association football Reserve teams usually consist of a combination of emerging youth players and first-team squad players. Leyton () is a town in east London, England, within the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
