Stevo Karapandža
Stefan "Stevo" Karapandža ( sr-Cyrl, Стефан "Стево" Карапанџа; born 27 May 1947) is a Yugoslavian, Croatian and Serbian celebrity chef. With Ivo Serdar, and later Oliver Mlakar, he co-hosted the popular Yugoslav weekly cooking show ''Little Secrets of Great Chefs'' produced by TV Zagreb starting in 1974. At the start of the Yugoslav Wars in 1991, he received numerous threats from Croatian nationalists because of his Serb origins. He then left Zagreb for Italy and settled in Switzerland, where he now lives and operates a restaurant in Ennetbaden. Croat
The Croats (; hr, Hrvati ) are a South Slavic ethnic group who share a common Croatian ancestry, culture, history and language. They are also a recognized minority in a number of neighboring countries, namely Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. Due to political, social and economic reasons, many Croats migrated to North and South America as well as New Zealand and later Australia, establishing a diaspora in the aftermath of World War II, with grassroots assistance from earlier communities and the Roman Catholic Church. Vegeta (food)
Vegeta is a condiment which is a mixture primarily of salt with flavour enhancers, spices and various vegetables developed in 1959 by a Bosnian Croat scientist Zlata Bartl, and has become a product sold worldwide. Vegeta is produced by Podravka, a company from Koprivnica, Croatia, as well as a subsidiary of Podravka in Poland and two Vegeta licensees from Austria and Hungary. There have been around 50 instances of other companies attempting to reproduce the product. Vegeta was conceived in 1958 in Podravka's laboratories and professor Paul Ivanić was head of the team that developed it. The product was first sold in Yugoslavia in 1959 as "Vegeta 40". In 1967 Vegeta was first exported to Hungary and the USSR and is now sold in around 40 countries worldwide. There is also a "no MSG added" version for those avoiding monosodium glutamate. Podravka
Podravka d.d. is a Croatian food company based in Koprivnica. Founded in 1934, today it is one of the largest food companies in Southeast Europe. History 1934–1990 The brothers Marijan and Matija Wolf founded the company on 14 June 1934. At the time, the firm was a fruit factory. When the communists under Tito took power in 1947 the company was nationalized and received its current name. In 1949, Podravka started producing fruit jam. In 1952 new products were released on the market: once a fruit factory Podravka now started producing candy, mustard, ketchup, fruit brandy and canned meat. After publishing a newspaper from April 1998 until January 2010, the people behind the project have since then run an online news portal and YouTube channel under the same name.
