Steven Takahashi
Steven Takahashi (born 8 April 1992) is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. He won the silver medal in the men's 57 kg event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Australia. He is the son of Olympic wrestler Ray Takahashi, nephew of Olympic judo competitor Phil Takahashi and coach Tina Takahashi, and grandson of influential judoka Masao Takahashi. Career He won one of the bronze medals in the men's freestyle 55 kg event at the 2011 Pan American Games held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Amateur wrestling is a variant of wrestling practiced in collegiate, school, or other amateur level competitions. There are two international wrestling styles performed in the Olympic Games: freestyle and Greco-Roman. Both styles are under the supervision of the United World Wrestling (UWW; formerly known as FILA, from the French acronym for International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles). Masao Takahashi
Masao Takahashi (June 24, 1929 – February 14, 2020) was a Canadian judoka, author, coach, and founder of the Takahashi School of Martial Arts (Est. 1969) in Ottawa, Ontario. He was involved in judo for more than 70 years, and was ranked ''hachi-dan'' (eighth-degree black belt), making him one of the highest ranked Canadian judoka. In 2002 he was decorated by the Emperor of Japan with the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette, in recognition of his service to improving the status of Japanese Canadians through his lifelong commitment to the promotion and development of Judo in Canada. He was inducted into the Judo Canada Hall of Fame in 1998. In 2005 Takahashi co-authored a book, ''Mastering Judo'', with his family.
