Steve Gray (basketball)
Steve Gray is a retired American basketball player. He was a two-time West Coast Athletic Conference player of the year at Saint Mary's College. A 6'4 guard, Steve Gray was named California Mr. Basketball as a senior at George Washington High School in San Francisco in 1959. Gray played collegiately at Saint Mary's College from 1960 to 1963 and is one of the best players in Gaels' history. He was a three-time all-conference pick in the WCAC (now called the West Coast Conference). His freshman year, Gray averaged 11.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game as he teamed with forward Tom Meschery to lead the Gaels to a 19–7 record. The next two years, Gray was the premier player in the conference. As a junior, he averaged 20.3 points and 11.9 rebounds per game and shared WCAC player of the year honors with Pepperdine's Harry Dinnel. Steven Gray (born April 8, 1989) is an American former professional basketball player who last played for Peristeri of the Greek Basket League. He played college basketball for Gonzaga University. Gray spent his entire professional career overseas, playing in countries such as Greece, France, Israel, Lebanon, Latvia, Croatia and Bosnia. College career After 125 games played for Gonzaga, Gray posted career averages of 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals per outing. Steven Gray (born 17 October 1981) is a retired Irish footballer who played for Drogheda United, Derry City & Bohemians in the League of Ireland as well as Dandenong Thunder, Oakleigh Cannons (2 spells) & Melbourne Heart in Australia. Gray played as a centre back. Club career Gray played as a youth with hometown club Leixlip United, Cherry Orchard and Verona before moving to Southampton. Stephen Kevin Gray (born 6 July 1988) is an English former first-class cricketer. Gray was born at Barking and was educated at Canon Palmer School, before going up to Anglia Ruskin University. While studying at Anglia Ruskin, he made his debut in first-class cricket for Cambridge UCCE against Somerset at Fenner's in 2008. He played first-class cricket for Cambridge UCCE (later MCCU) until 2010, making eight appearances. He scored 190 runs in his eight matches, at an average of 21.11 and a high score of 35 not out. Stephen Gray (December 1666 – 7 February 1736) was an English dyer and astronomer who was the first to systematically experiment with electrical conduction. Until his work in 1729 the emphasis had been on the simple generation of static charges and investigations of the static phenomena (electric shocks, plasma glows, etc.). He also first made the distinction between conduction and insulation, and discovered the action-at-a-distance phenomenon of electrostatic induction. Early life Gray was born in Canterbury, Kent, and after some basic schooling, he was apprenticed to his father (and later his elder brother) in the cloth-dyeing trade. Career In 1950, together with David Cairns, Gray established the Chelsea Opera Group. This was an organisation that produced concert performances of operas rather than staged productions because they were less expensive for the audiences. For their first performance they persuaded Colin Davis, at the time a 22-year-old clarinetist, to conduct a concert performance of Mozart’s ''Don Giovanni'' in the Holywell Music Room, Oxford. Stephen Gray (30 November 1941 – 22 October 2020) was a South African writer and critic. Career Gray was born in Cape Town on 30 November 1941. He studied at St. Andrew's College, Grahamstown, and later at the University of Cape Town, Cambridge University, England (where he received a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Arts, both in English), and the University of Iowa, US (where he studied a Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing). He was also awarded a D. Litt and d. Phil. by Rand Afrikaans University, Johannesburg in 1978. Until 1992, he was Professor of English at the Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg. Gray was a prolific poet and published eight novels. Steve Gray (18 April 1944 – 20 September 2008) was a British pianist, composer and arranger. Biography Gray was born in Middlesbrough, England. At the age of 10, he began teaching himself to play the piano. He joined the Middlesbrough Junior Orchestra, at first playing the bassoon but later switching to the saxophone. The orchestra was directed by Ron Aspery, who would go on to create the fusion group Back Door. During the 1970s he played sessions for Quincy Jones, Henry Mancini, Michel Legrand, Lalo Schifrin, Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Jr and John Barry. Gray joined John Williams' band Sky in 1981, replacing Francis Monkman on keyboards, a role he continued until Sky's final live concerts in 1995. Gray was also a respected composer of concert works.
