Steven Fox (golfer)
Steven Fox (born January 14, 1991) is an American professional golfer who won the 2012 U.S. Amateur. Fox was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He attended Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Fox won the 2012 U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills Country Club on the 37th hole after being down two with two holes to play. Fox was the 63rd player to qualify for match play. He had to survive a 17-man playoff for 14 spots in stroke play to qualify for the match play of the U.S. Amateur. With the win, Fox qualified for the 2013 Masters Tournament, 2013 U.S. Open, and 2013 Open Championship where he missed the cut at all three events. Fox won the Tennessee State Amateur in August 2013. Fox turned professional in September 2013. 2012 Eisenhower Trophy
The 2012 Eisenhower Trophy took place 4–7 October on the PGA Sultan course at Antalya Golf Club and the Faldo course at Cornelia Golf Club in Antalya, Turkey. It was the 28th World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 72 three-man teams. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team was due to play two rounds on the two courses. A weather delay on the second morning meant that the second round was not completed until the third day and the event was reduced to 54 holes. The leading 36 teams played their third round at Antalya Golf Club with the remaining teams playing at Cornelia Golf Club. United States won their 14th Eisenhower Trophy, four strokes ahead of Mexico, who took the silver medal. France, Germany and South Korea tied for third place and took bronze medals. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round. The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf.
