Steve West (darts Player)
Steve West (born 5 June 1975) is an English darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments. He is the younger brother of 2003 World Master Tony West. BDO career West showed signs of a promising career quickly by reaching the final of the 2005 French Open, losing to local Dominique le Roy. He also reached the last 32 of the 2005 World Masters where he lost to Gary Anderson. In 2007, West reached another Open final in the 2007 Dutch Open, one of the BDO's biggest Open tournaments. Amongst his scalps were Dutchmen Co Stompé and Edwin Max before losing in the final to Scott Waites. Following this and three further quarter-finals, he qualified for the 2007 International Darts League, but was knocked out at the Preliminary Group Stage. Epping, Essex
Epping is a market town and civil parish in the Epping Forest district of the County of Essex, England. The town is northeast from the centre of London, is surrounded by the northern end of Epping Forest, and on a ridge of land between the River Roding and River Lea valleys. Epping is the terminus for London Underground's Central line. The town has a number of historic Grade I and II and Grade III listed buildings. 2017 World Grand Prix (darts)
The 2017 Unibet World Grand Prix was the 20th staging of the World Grand Prix (darts), World Grand Prix. It was held from 1–7 October 2017 at the Citywest, Citywest Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion after defeating Gary Anderson (darts player), Gary Anderson 5–2 in the 2016 World Grand Prix (darts), 2016 final, but lost to John Henderson (darts player), John Henderson 2–1 in the first round. This was the first time since 2011 Players Championship Finals (2), December 2011 that van Gerwen lost in the first round of a major ranking tournament. Daryl Gurney won his first major televised title after beating Simon Whitlock 5–4 in the final. For the first time in PDC history, no English player made the quarter-final stages of a televised tournament. Co Stompé
Jacobus Wilhelmus "Co" Stompé (born 10 September 1962) is a Dutch former professional darts player. He was nicknamed The Matchstick because of his almost bald head and very thin appearance, making him look like a matchstick. He was also one of very few professionals who played in longsleeved shirts. Darts career BDO For years, Stompé was considered the third best Dutch darts player behind Raymond van Barneveld and Roland Scholten. After reaching the semi-finals of the 2000 World Championship, he dropped back behind a younger emerging Dutch group of players. Gary Anderson (born 22 December 1970) is a Scottish professional darts player, currently playing in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He is a former BDO and WDF world number one, and a two-time PDC World Champion, having won the title in 2015 and 2016. His nickname is "The Flying Scotsman", after a famous Scottish steam train. Tony West (born 7 July 1972) is an English former professional darts player. Darts career BDO career Winmau World Masters West's biggest successes have come at the Winmau World Masters. He reached the final in 2002 but was beaten by 7-4 by Mark Dudbridge. In 2003, he made the semi-finals where he played Ted Hankey. Winmau World Masters
The World Masters is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments, which began in 1974. The tournament is sponsored by darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was unusual in darts in that its sets are the best of 3 legs (first to 2) rather than the standard best of 5 legs (first to 3). It was previously the final leg of the BDO's Grand Slam title of televised majors, along with the BDO World Darts Championship, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy, until the latter two tournaments were axed in 2008. The champion is referred to as the World Master. After the collapse of the British Darts Organisation in September 2020, the World Darts Federation announced plans to launch the WDF World Masters. The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is a professional darts organisation in the United Kingdom, established in 1992 when a group of leading players split from the British Darts Organisation (BDO) to form what was initially called the World Darts Council (WDC). 2017 Players Championship Finals
The 2017 Mr Green Sport Players Championship Finals was the tenth edition of the PDC darts tournament, the Players Championship Finals, which saw for the second time the top 64 players from the 22 Players Championship events of 2017 taking part. The tournament took place from 24–26 November 2017 at Butlin's Minehead in Minehead, England. Sixteen time world champion Phil Taylor and nine time major finalist Terry Jenkins were notable absences at the tournament after not playing in enough Players Championship events to qualify. 2015 Grand Slam Of Darts
The 2015 Singha Beer Grand Slam of Darts, was the ninth staging of the tournament, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. The event took take place from 7–15 November 2015 at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall, Wolverhampton, England. Phil Taylor was the defending champion, having won his sixth Grand Slam title by defeating Dave Chisnall 16–13 in the 2014 final. The 2015 edition saw several changes in the qualification criteria due to the Grand Slam of Darts being a PDC Order of Merit ranking tournament for the first time. As a result of this, at most 20 places were filled by invitations and the remaining 12 places were open for qualification. The tournament was won by Michael van Gerwen, who had a tournament average over 100, and with this title won every current PDC major tournament at least once.
