Steve Sims (boxer)
Steve "Sammy" Sims (born 10 October 1958) is a Welsh former professional boxer. He held the British featherweight title in 1982, the Welsh Area super-featherweight title from 1985 to 1986 and challenged once for the European featherweight title in 1983. Career Sims made his professional debut in June 1979, defeating Selvin Bell in a points decision (PTS). He suffered his first loss in his following fight, a fifth-round technical knockout (TKO) to Erig Roganesi. Sims fought frequently in his early career, fighting 14 times by November 1980, recording a 7–7 record. During this spell, he defeated future British bantamweight title holder Davy Larmour and suffered a defeat to another future bantamweight champion, John Feeney. Following defeat to Feeney, Sims embarked on the longest unbeaten run of his career. He recorded a draw with Vernon Penprase in December 1980 before defeating him in a rematch six months later. Patrick Cowdell
Patrick ("Pat") Cowdell (born 18 August 1953 in Smethwick, Staffordshire) is a retired boxer from Great Britain. He challenged twice for the WBC world featherweight title in 1981 and 1985. Amateur career Cowdell won the bronze medal in the bantamweight division (– 54 kg) at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In the semi-finals he was beaten by eventual gold medalist Gu Yong-Ju from North Korea. Two years earlier Cowdell won the gold medal, at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand. Alway is an electoral district (ward) and coterminous community (formerly civil parish) of the city of Newport. The ward is bounded by the Great Western Main Line to the south, Windsor Road, Chepstow Road and Beechwood Road to the west, the M4 motorway to the north, and a line running between Glanwern Grove, Ringwood Hill, Ringland Circle, Aberthaw Road, and Balfe Road to the east. Robert Dickie (boxer)
Robert Dickie (23 June 1964 – 28 October 2010) was a Welsh professional boxer, fighting at both featherweight and super-featherweight. He was Scottish champion at featherweight, British champion at both weights and became WBC International super-featherweight champion in 1988. He is one of only four Welshmen to hold a British boxing title at different weights, the others being Johnny Basham, Pat Thomas and Jack Petersen. The Newport Transporter Bridge ( cy, Pont Gludo Casnewydd) is a transporter bridge that crosses the River Usk in Newport, South East Wales. The bridge is the lowest crossing on the River Usk. It is a Grade I listed structure. It is one of fewer than 10 transporter bridges that remain in use worldwide; only a few dozen were ever built.
