Steve Prescott (racing Driver)
Stephen Prescott (26 December 1973 – 9 November 2013) was a professional rugby league footballer who played as a during the 1990s and 2000s. Prescott made his début for St Helens ( Heritage № 1044) in 1993, and soon established himself as the club's first choice fullback. He made his senior international début in 1996, playing both games for England in their 1996 European Championship victory, and touring with Great Britain in the Southern Hemisphere. In the same year, he also helped St Helens win the Championship (Super League I) and Challenge Cup for the first time in two decades. He went on to win a second consecutive Challenge Cup with the club in 1997, but was sold to Hull Sharks ( Heritage № 939) at the end of the season. Dave Lyon (rugby League)
David Lyon (born 3 September 1965) is an English former professional rugby league and rugby union footballer who played as a for Widnes, Warrington, St Helens, Sheffield Eagles and the Leigh Centurions. He switched to rugby union in 1996 and finished his playing career with Orrell. He is the son of Geoff Lyon the former Wigan RLFC great who played at Wigan from 1959 to 1969. Playing career Widnes Lyon started his professional rugby league career with Widnes, joining the club from amateur side Wigan St Patricks in September 1983. Rugby League Positions
A rugby league team consists of thirteen players on the field, with 4 substitutes on the bench. Each of the thirteen players is assigned a position, normally with a standardised number, which reflects their role in attack and defence, although players can take up any position at any time. Players are divided into two general types, forwards and backs. Forwards are generally chosen for their size and strength. They are expected to run with the ball, to attack, and to make tackles. Forwards are required to improve the team's field position thus creating space and time for the backs. Backs are usually smaller and faster, though a big, fast player can be of advantage in the backs. Their roles require speed and ball-playing skills, rather than just strength, to take advantage of the field position gained by the forwards. The Leigh Leopards are a professional rugby league club based in Leigh, Greater Manchester, England, who compete in the Betfred Super League. De La Salle School, St Helens is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive Roman Catholic high school which is linked to the worldwide La Sallian community. Rugby Football League
The Rugby Football League is the governing body for professional rugby league in England, and until 1995 for the whole British Isles. The name Rugby Football League previously also referred to the main league competition run by the organisation. This has since been supplanted by Super League, the Championship and League 1.
