Steve Patterson (basketball)
Steven John Patterson (June 24, 1948 – July 28, 2004) was an American professional basketball player and coach who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for five seasons. A 6'9" center for UCLA, Patterson spent his first year of athletic eligibility ( 1968-69, the third of the Bruins' unprecedented string of seven consecutive national titles) as the backup to Lew Alcindor, later Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He then was the starting center for the Bruins' 1970 and 1971 championship teams under legendary coach John Wooden. Steve Patterson (born 1958 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin) is a former American sports executive. He most recently served as the president and CEO of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). Patterson is the former athletic director of the University of Texas, and the former president and general manager of the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Patterson attended the University of Texas, graduating with honors with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1980. He graduated from UT's law school in 1984. Patterson joined the Portland Trail Blazers as team's president in June 2003. He became the general manager after John Nash's contract was not renewed in May 2006, and served in both roles until resigning on March 1, 2007. Steve Patterson is a Canadian stand-up comedian, actor, writer, television and radio host, and television producer known for his satire and observational comedy. Career Patterson has been on the comedy circuit full-time since 1996. He draws material from observation of daily/current events and what goes on in the room during a show. He first set foot on the stage at the age of 18 on a dare from his dorm mates. However, he spent the next few years away from comedy, as he finished his university degree in business from The University of Western Ontario. He then earned a post-graduate diploma in media copywriting. He performed comedy part-time while earning a living as a full-time advertising copywriter from 1994-1996. Patterson was fired from his copywriting job in 1996. and started performing comedy full-time. Steve Patterson is a retired American soccer forward. He is the head coach of the Foothill High School girls’ soccer team. Youth In 1994, Patterson graduated from Foothill High School. He attended Fresno State University, playing on the men's soccer team from 1994 to 1996. Professional In 1997, Patterson turned professional with the Colorado Foxes of the USISL A-League. He finished the season with sixteen goals, placing him fourth on the league's scoring chart. Patterson was also selected as Second Team All League. At the end of the season, Patterson signed with the Colorado Rapids. On November 6, 1997, the Chicago Fire selected Patterson in the 1997 MLS Expansion Draft. The Fire waived him on March 1, 1998. Steven A. Patterson is an American lawyer and politician who served as State Auditor of Mississippi from 1992 to 1996. A Democrat, he worked on several political campaigns in the 1970s and served as treasurer for Bill Allain's 1983 gubernatorial campaign. With Allain's backing, Patterson assumed the chairmanship of the Mississippi Democratic Party, which he held until 1987. In 1991 Patterson ran for the office of state auditor. Taking office in 1992, he secured law enforcement powers for some the employees of his office and gained authorization to conduct performance audits of state agencies. He was reelected in 1995, but resigned the following year after he came under investigation for several instances of malfeasance. In 2006, he joined a law firm, despite not being a lawyer. ''The Jon Dore Television Show'' is a Canadian mockumentary-style comedy television series, created by Jon Dore and John Brunton. The show stars Canadian actor and comedian Jon Dore, of recent ''Canadian Idol'' co-host fame. The Comedy Network ordered 13 half-hour episodes of the series, which premiered on October 17, 2007 at 10pm ET. The second season premiered on January 21, 2009. A third season was supposed to be premiered in 2010 until Dore confirmed the series' cancellation. The show also aired on the Independent Film Channel in the United States.
