Steve Marino
Stephen Paul Marino, Jr. (born March 10, 1980) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Early life, education, early golf A military brat, Marino was born in Altus, Oklahoma, where his father, Steve Sr., was stationed as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force. The family moved to Alaska when he was an infant, and later to Ohio and Alabama. In 1991, they relocated to Fairfax, Virginia, a suburb southwest of Washington, D.C., where they continue to reside. Marino's golf game began to blossom at age 14, when he worked and played at the Army Navy Country Club in Fairfax; he graduated from W.T. Woodson High School in 1998. During his senior year he won the Virginia High School championship, and received a golf scholarship to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Steve Stricker
Steven Charles Stricker (born February 23, 1967) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and the PGA Tour Champions. He has twelve victories on the PGA Tour, including the WGC-Match Play title in 2001 and two FedEx Cup playoff events. His most successful season on tour came at age 42 in 2009, with three victories and a runner-up finish on the money list. Timothy Henry Clark (born 17 December 1975) is a South African professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. His biggest win was The Players Championship in 2010, which was also his first PGA Tour win. Early life and amateur career Clark was born in Durban, South Africa. The World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour in Mexico, held at Playa del Carmen, south of Cancún. Qualifying School
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it. There can be up to four stages to negotiate, each of them like a regular golf tournament with only a small number of players going on to the next stage. A Monday qualifier is a stroke play golf tournament held on the Monday before a professional golf tournament that awards top finishers entry into the professional tournament. Those who enter the Monday qualifiers are those with no status on the tour sponsoring the event or too far down the tour's priority list to earn direct entry. The players who earn entry into the professional tournament in this manner are also called Monday qualifiers. In the United States, both the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour offer Monday qualifiers for most events. The Gateway Tour, title sponsored as the OnCore Gateway Tour, is a third-level men's professional golf tour headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona that runs tournaments in Arizona, California, and Florida. The top level of men's professional golf in the United States is the PGA Tour. The second level is the Korn Ferry Tour, which is the official developmental tour run by the PGA Tour. The Gateway Tour and rival ventures such as the Swing Thought Tour are the level below that. The fourth and lowest level of tour golf is the mini-tour circuit.
