Steve Long (game Designer)
Steven S. Long is a role-playing game author and one of the owners of Hero Games. Career Long started playing Champions in 1982. He began writing for the game ten years later, starting with articles in the Hero Games house magazine, ''Adventurers Club''. He began working in the RPG industry in 1992 as a freelancer for Hero Games. Long wrote the subgenre book ''Dark Champions'' in 1993, as well as several additional ''Champions'' sourcebooks to support it. Long authored ''The Ultimate Martial Artist'' (1994) and ''The Ultimate Mentalist'' (1996) as the first two books in a line conceived of by Steve Peterson as sourcebooks that could be used with all of the genres of the ''Hero System''. Steve Jackson Games (SJGames) is a game company, founded in 1980 by Steve Jackson, that creates and publishes role-playing, board, and card games, and (until 2019) the gaming magazine ''Pyramid''. History Founded in 1980, six years after the creation of ''Dungeons & Dragons'', SJ Games created several role-playing and strategy games with science fiction themes. SJ Games' early titles were microgames initially sold in 4×7 inch ziploc bags, and later in the similarly sized Pocket Box. Darren Watts (Hero Games)
Darren Watts (February 17, 1969 – December 31, 2022) was an American game designer who was one of the founders (along with Steve Long) of DOJ Inc. and the president of Hero Games, publishers of roleplaying games using the Hero System such as ''Champions'', ''Fantasy Hero'' and '' Star Hero''. He contributed to multiple conventions for Double Exposure, podcasts such as Explain This, Comics Guys!, and wrote, contributed, and edited many other RPGs. Origins Award
The Origins Awards are American awards for outstanding work in the game industry. They are presented by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design at the Origins Game Fair on an annual basis for the previous year, so (for example) the 1979 awards were given at the 1980 Origins. The Origins Award is commonly referred to as a Calliope, as the statuette is in the likeness of the muse of the same name. Academy members frequently shorten this name to "Callie". Lord Of The Rings Roleplaying Game
''The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game'', released by Decipher Inc. in 2002, is a role-playing game set in the Middle-earth of J. R. R. Tolkien's fiction. The game is set in the years between ''The Hobbit'' and ''The Fellowship of the Ring'', but may be run at any time from the First to Fourth Age and contains many examples of how to do so. ''Star Trek Roleplaying Game'' is a role-playing game (RPG) set in the ''Star Trek'' universe using the ''CODA System'' rules and first published by Decipher, Inc. in 2002. When Decipher acquired the rights to create the RPG, they also acquired most of the gaming studio from Last Unicorn Games. However, the Decipher game system is dissimilar to the one that Last Unicorn published. Instead, the system is similar to Wizards of the Coast's '' d20 System'' but uses 2D6 to resolve actions. Gen Con is the largest tabletop game convention in North America by both attendance and number of events.
