Steve Grubb
Steve Grubb (born 19 September 1968 from London) is an English professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation events, he was nicknamed Grubby. Career Grubb fell two games short of qualifying for the 2006 World Matchplay, losing to Andy Hamilton who eventually qualified. He then fell one game short of qualifying for the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship. Having beaten Tom Kirby and Paul Williams, he lost in the final game to Wayne Atwood. In 2008, Grubb secured his best ever performance in the PDC Pro Tour, reaching the last 16 in the Players Championship in Las Vegas, beating David Fatum and Tony Ayres before losing to Mark Frost. Then reached the 1/4's in a pro tour event in Scotland losing a narrow game to Michael Van Gerwen. Michael Seward "Mike" Gregory (16 December 1956 – 19 April 2022) was an English professional darts player, who reached the final of the Winmau World Masters twice and also reached the final of the Embassy World Darts Championship in 1992 – losing to Phil Taylor in a match regarded amongst the greatest matches ever played. Darts career Gregory was one of the top ranked players from the mid-1980s through to the early 1990s, having been seeded in the top four at the World Championships on seven occasions – although he never won the World title. His major breakthrough was beating John Lowe in the semi-finals of the 1983 British Open in which he finished runner-up to Eric Bristow. Philip Douglas Taylor (born 13 August 1960) is an English former professional darts player, widely considered the greatest darts player of all time. Nicknamed The Power, he dominated darts for over two decades and won 214 professional tournaments, including a record 85 major titles and a record 16 World Championships. In 2015, the BBC rated Taylor among the ten greatest British sportsmen of the last 35 years. 2009 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2009 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship was the 16th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event took place at Alexandra Palace in London from 19 December 2008 and 4 January 2009. John Part was the defending champion, having won the PDC World Championship for the second time in the previous year's final against Kirk Shepherd. However, he was eliminated by Bill Davis on the opening night. Shepherd's poor form in 2008 continued, as he was also eliminated in the first round, by Dutchman Jan van der Rassel. Eventually, the title was won by Phil Taylor, with a 7–1 victory in the final over Raymond van Barneveld. Tony Ayres (darts Player)
Tony Ayres (17 June 1967 – 27 November 2021) was an English professional darts player who played for the Professional Darts Corporation events. Career Ayres' first television exposure came during the 2008 UK Open, reaching the last 64 stage where he lost 9–0 to Raymond van Barneveld. Ayres qualified for the 2009 PDC World Darts Championship, taking one of eight qualification spots at the qualifying event in Telford. He defeated Andy Smith in the first round but was beaten in the second round by Andy Hamilton. In the 2010 UK Open, he reached the semi-finals and in doing so, beat James Wade 10–9 In the semi-final he was defeated 10–3 by Scotsman Gary Anderson. David Fatum
David "Dave" Fatum (born August 4, 1968, in Prince Rupert, British Columbia) is a Canadian-American professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation events. His nickname is The Scorpion. He is not a full-time professional and makes his living as a paramedic firefighter. Career Fatum's first major exposure came in the 2008 PDC US Open where he reached the semi finals losing to Colin Lloyd. In his third-round game, he defeated Davis Snider who had earlier beaten North American Darts champion Darin Young and former BDO world champion Steve Beaton. He then beat Stephen Panuncialman who beat Paul Lim in the third round. He then secured wins over Bill Davis and Chris Mason before eventually bowing out to Lloyd. Wayne Atwood
Wayne Edward Atwood (born 24 July 1964 in Caerphilly) is a Welsh retired professional darts player from Caerphilly. He is not a full-time professional player – he makes his full-time living as a plasterer. He used the nickname the Celtic Warrior for his matches. He played on the Professional Darts Corporation circuit He yet to make an impression on the major tournaments having only qualified for the World Championship on two occasions – reaching the last 32 in 2004 and being knocked out in the first round in 2007. He achieved his first major success in June 2007 by winning the Thailf Open (a non-ranked PDC event) and a €2,400 cheque.
