Steve Griffin
Steven Leroy Griffin (born December 24, 1964) is a former American football wide receiver who played one season with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the twelfth round of the 1986 NFL Draft. Griffin played college football at Purdue University and attended Miami Norland High School in Miami Gardens, Florida. He was also a member of the Washington Commandos, Detroit Drive and Columbus Thunderbolts of the Arena Football League. He was the MVP of ArenaBowl II Arena Bowl '88 (or Arena Bowl II) was the Arena Football League's second championship game. 1986 NFL Draft
The 1986 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held April 29–30, 1986, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, New York. The league also held a supplemental draft after the regular draft and before the regular season. The first overall selection of the draft, Bo Jackson, had told the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to the draft that he would refuse to sign with the team. Disputes with team owner Hugh Culverhouse intensified after Jackson was ruled ineligible to play college baseball due to a trip he took with Culverhouse. The Arena Football League (AFL) was a professional arena football league in the United States. It was founded in 1986, but played its first official games in the 1987 season, making it the third longest-running professional football league in North America after the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the National Football League (NFL) until the AFL closed in 2019. Miami Gardens is a city in north-central Miami-Dade County, Florida.
