Steve Engel
Steven Michael Engel (born December 31, 1961) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He attended Eastern Kentucky University, where he played for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels baseball team. Engel was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 5th round of the 1983 Major League Baseball Draft. He pitched in 11 games for the 1985 Chicago Cubs. In 1986, he was the player to be named later from an earlier trade, in which the Cubs traded Billy Hatcher to the Houston Astros for Jerry Mumphrey Jerry Wayne Mumphrey (born September 9, 1952) is an American retired professional baseball outfielder. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. There are many different types of pitchers, such as the starting pitcher, relief pitcher, middle reliever, lefty specialist, setup man, and the closer. Traditionally, the pitcher also bats.
