Steve Cruickshank
Steve Cruickshank is a Canadian retired ice hockey center who was an All-American for Clarkson. Career Cruickshank was a member of the final recruiting class at Clarkson for Jerry York. In his freshman season, Cruickshank posted decent numbers and the team finished 5th in the conference standings but it was when Bill O'Flaherty took over as coach in 1979 that he Cruickshank made a name for himself. In 1980 he nearly doubled his goal production and was named to the All-conference second team. Clarkson won its first playoff game in three years and tings only got better from there. Cruickshank nearly hit the 30-goal mark as a junior and was again an ECAC Hockey all-star while the team finished atop the conference and made their first NCAA tournament appearance in eleven years. Randy Velischek
Randolph John Velischek (born February 10, 1962) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played ten seasons in the National Hockey League from 1982–83 until 1991–92 for the Minnesota North Stars, New Jersey Devils, and Quebec Nordiques. Randy Velischek was drafted 53rd overall by the North Stars in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. He played 509 career NHL games, scoring 21 goals and 97 points. He was also the head coach of the Metropolitan Riveters of the National Women's Hockey League for the 2018–19 season. Playing career Velischek was born in Montreal, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1974 and 1975 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from Mount Royal, Quebec. Ed Small
Edward Small is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenseman who was an All-American for Clarkson. Career Small came to Clarkson University in the fall of 1977. In his first two seasons, under the leadership of Jerry York, the team played well but performed rather unspectacularly in the conference postseason. Small put up respectable numbers but was far down the depth chart and not much more than a stable defender. After York left for greener pastures, Clarkson alumnus Bill O'Flaherty began his tenure in 1979 and Small saw an immediate change. He more than tripled his point production from his sophomore to junior year and was named to the all-conference second team. More importantly, the team won its first playoff game in three years. American Hockey Coaches Association
The American Hockey Coaches Association was formed in 1947 in Boston. The founding members coached college ice hockey but membership has grown to include coaches at every level of the sport from youth hockey to professional ice hockey, although the organization maintains a focus on the collegiate game.
