Steve Corpening
Steve Corpening (born August 11, 1965 in Rantoul, Illinois) is a former U.S. soccer player who was the 1989 Western Soccer League leading scorer. He three seasons in the American Professional Soccer League and three in the Continental Indoor Soccer League. Youth Born in Illinois, Corpening grew up in England where his father, a member of the United States Air Force was stationed. Corpening's family moved to Dixon, California where he graduated from Dixon High School. In 1984, he entered American River College where he was a 1984 All Northern California soccer player. In 1986, he transferred to California State University, Sacramento. However, he was ineligible to play the 1986 season. He spent the 1987 season with Cal State, scoring nine goals and assistant on four others en route to earning second team Division II All American honors. Rantoul, Illinois
Rantoul is a village in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. The population was 12,371 at the 2020 census. History The community was named after Robert Rantoul, Jr., a U.S. representative from Massachusetts, and a director of the Illinois Central Railroad. Rantoul was laid out in 1854 for the Illinois Central Railroad by John Penfield. A post office was established in 1856 as Rantoul Station; the name was changed to Rantoul in May 1862. In 1917, Rantoul was chosen by the United States Army to be the site of Chanute Field, due to its proximity to the Illinois Central railroad and the War Department's ground school at the University of Illinois. In the 1930s, Chanute Field grew, dominating the local economy as thousands of airmen were stationed there to train recruits. Dixon High School (Dixon, California)
Dixon High School high school in Dixon, California. It is the only mainstream high school in the town of 18,974 (as of 2021), although there is a small alternative high school called Maine Prairie High School. Dixon High School is part of the Dixon Unified School District. It is located at 555 College Way. The school had previously been located at 455 East A St. from 1940 to 2007. The old location has since been converted into a middle school called John Knight Middle School. Named for a longtime Dixon High principal, the school opened in March 2021.
