Steve Abbott (musician)
Steven Paul "Abbo" Abbott (born January 1960 in Luton) is an English producer, A&R executive, artist manager and concert promoter. Formerly a singer/songwriter, Abbott was lead singer of the band UK Decay from 1979 to 1983. Early life Abbott grew up on the Farley Hill Estate in Luton in the 1960s. He attended Luton Sixth Form College, where in 1978 he joined local punk band The Rezistors as a guitarist. Punk career UK Decay Moving to vocals and guitar, Abbott renamed The Rezistors as "UK Decay" in 1979, after a front-page headline in the ''Daily Mirror''. In an interview with Steve Keaton for ''Sounds'' music paper, Abbott described the band as " Goth" and has since been credited with being one of the first to use the term for the music and fashion movement. The band toured extensively around Europe on the rock and art circuits. Luton
Luton () is a town and unitary authority with borough status, in Bedfordshire, England. At the 2011 census, the Luton built-up area subdivision had a population of 211,228 and its built-up area, including the adjacent towns of Dunstable and Houghton Regis, had a population of 258,018. It is the most populous town in the county, from the County Towns of Hertford, from Bedford and from London. The town is situated on the River Lea, about north-north-west of London. Circle Jerks (stylized as Ciʀcle JƎʀᴋs) are an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1979 in Los Angeles, California. The group was founded by former Black Flag vocalist Keith Morris and Redd Kross guitarist Greg Hetson. To date, Circle Jerks have released six studio albums, one compilation, a live album and a live DVD. Their debut album, ''Group Sex'' (1980), is considered a landmark of the hardcore genre. The band has broken up and re-formed several times, sometimes with different bassists and/or drummers. They disbanded for the first time after the release of their fifth album '' VI'' (1987), allowing Hetson to focus on Bad Religion (which he joined in 1984 and stayed with until 2013) full-time. John Tavener
Sir John Kenneth Tavener (28 January 1944 – 12 November 2013) was an English composer, known for his extensive output of choral religious works. Among his best known works are '' The Lamb'' (1982), '' The Protecting Veil'' (1988), and ''Song for Athene'' (1993). Tavener first came to prominence with his cantata ''The Whale'', premiered in 1968. Then aged 24, he was described by ''The Guardian'' as "the musical discovery of the year", while ''The Times'' said he was "among the very best creative talents of his generation". ''101 Damnations'' is the debut studio album by English rock band Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine, released on 15 January 1990 through Big Cat Records. After playing in different bands, James Robert "Jim Bob" Morrison and Les "Fruitbat" Carter formed Bob and played their first show in August 1987, before changing the name to Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine. Over the next year, they played various shows across London before signing to Big Cat; with shows further north of the city in early 1989, a fanbase started building. Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine (also known as Carter USM or simply Carter) were an English indie rock band formed in 1987 by singer Jim "Jim Bob" Morrison and guitarist Les "Fruitbat" Carter. ''Wonderful Town'' is a 1953 musical with book written by Joseph A. Fields and Jerome Chodorov, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and music by Leonard Bernstein. The musical tells the story of two sisters who aspire to be a writer and actress respectively, seeking success from their basement apartment in New York City's Greenwich Village. It is based on Fields and Chodorov's 1940 play ''My Sister Eileen'', which in turn originated from autobiographical short stories by Ruth McKenney first published in ''The New Yorker'' in the late 1930s and later published in book form as ''My Sister Eileen''. Christopher Andrew Tsangarides (17 August 1956 – 6 January 2018) was a British Grammy-nominated record producer, sound engineer, and mixer of Greek Cypriot origin. He was best known for his work with many heavy metal artists, including Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Helloween, Anvil, Angra, Anthem, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Tygers of Pan Tang. Tsangarides worked with many pop and alternative artists as well, including Depeche Mode, Tom Jones, Concrete Blonde, and The Tragically Hip. Furyo
Furyo were an English gothic rock band who formed in Luton in mid-1983 after UK Decay split. They split early in 1985. History UK Decay members Steve "Abbo" Abbot, Steve Harle and Eddie Branch stayed together after that band split. The three recorded under the name Slavedrive on compilation LP ''The Whip'' (though the CD reissue credits the song to UK Decay) and as Meat of Youth on LP ''Young Limbs, Numb Hymns: The Batcave Compilation'', with a guitarist named Patrick Egan (ex Where’s Lisse) who soon left. They were joined by guitarist Albie de Luca, formerly of Gene Loves Jezebel, and renamed themselves Furyo. They played their first show in September 1983.
