Stevan Mirković
Stevan Mirković ( sr-cyr, Стеван Мирковић; 27 October 1927 – 26 September 2015) was a Serb general of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). Biography In 1944, during World War II in Yugoslavia, Mirković joined both the Yugoslav Partisans and the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (SKJ). He was wounded on the Syrmian Front and near Brčko. He was prompted to Major General in 1975, Lieutenant General in 1982 and Colonel General in 1987. In the 1980s, he held a number of senior positions in the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). In 1987–1989, he held the position of the Chief of the General Staff of the JNA. He retired from active military service on 31 December 1989. However, he continued to be a member of the Organization of the League of Communists in the Yugoslav People's Army. Valjevo
Valjevo (Serbian Cyrillic: Ваљево, ) is a List of cities in Serbia, city and the administrative center of the Kolubara District in western Serbia. According to the 2011 census, the administrative area of Valjevo had 90,312 inhabitants, 59,073 of whom were urban dwellers. Valjevo occupies an area of 905 square kilometers; its altitude is 185 meters. The city is situated along the river Kolubara, a tributary of the Sava, Sava river. History In the nearby village of Petnica, scientists found the first complete neolithic habitat in Serbia and dated it at 6,000 years old. Blagoje Adžić
Blagoje Adžić ( sr-Cyrl, Благоје Аџић, (); 2 September 1932 – 1 March 2012) was a Serbian colonel general who served as an acting Minister of Defence of the Yugoslavia government. Biography Adžić was born into a Serb family in the village of Pridvorica (near Gacko), Zeta Banovina, Kingdom of Yugoslavia in what is now Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a child, he witnessed the slaughter of his family by Muslim members of the Croatian fascist Ustaše movement rampaging through his village while he was hiding in a tree. Forty-two members of the Adžić family, including Blagoje's parents, sister and two brothers, were killed by his neighbors. After his third year in industrial school, he graduated from officer training school in 1953. After he had graduated, he also received a diploma in foreign languages from the JNA military school. Zorko Čanadi (25 July 1925 – 24 August 2003) was a General officer, general of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). Biography In 1943, during World War II in Yugoslavia, Čanadi joined both the Yugoslav Partisans and the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (SKJ). He was promoted to Major General in 1972, Lieutenant General in 1976 and Colonel General in 1982. In the 1970s and the 1980s, he held a number of senior positions in the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). He was chief of staff and therefore deputy commander of the First Army in 1974–1978, and commander of the Fifth Army in 1980–1985. Slobodan Milošević
Slobodan Milošević (, ; 20 August 1941 – 11 March 2006) was a Yugoslav and Serbian politician who was the president of Serbia within Yugoslavia from 1989 to 1997 (originally the Socialist Republic of Serbia, a constituent republic of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, from 1989 to 1992) and president of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1997 to 2000. Lieutenant General
Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal. A lieutenant general commands an army corps, made up of typically three army divisions, and consisting of around 60 000 to 70 000 soldiers (U.S.).
