''Stereo'' is a studio album by the American band Vallejo, released in 2002. "So Damn Beautiful" was covered by New Zealand singer Michael Murphy on his debut album, although the members of Vallejo were not initially credited as songwriters. Critical reception ''The Austin Chronicle'' wrote that Vallejo "has finally tipped the bottle all the way back and ingested the worm at the bottom ... their influences are now simply their sound, figuratively, not literally as with all young bands." Vallejo (band)
Vallejo is an American rock band founded by three Vallejo brothers: AJ Vallejo (eldest twin), Alex Vallejo (younger twin) & Omar Vallejo (youngest brother) (in Austin, Texas, but born & raised in El Campo, Texas later moving to Alabaster, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama during their pre-teen years. The band has released 12 full-length albums starting back in 1991 with their self-titled debut 'Sins' on the now-defunct Birmingham, AL indie label, Chapel Lane. After their move to Austin, TX January of 1995 the group performed at Austin's legendary Steamboat's Wednesday weekly residency for a full year writing and recording what would become their first major label release 1997's ''Shining Sun'' after being signed to TVT Records during a SXSW showcase. The album gained rave reviews kicking open many doors for Vallejo who went on to tour nationwide becoming a 'dangerous live act' as described by AustinLive. Wall of Voodoo was an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, United States. Though largely an underground act for the majority of its existence, the band came to prominence when its 1982 single " Mexican Radio" became a hit on MTV and alternative radio. The band's unique sound during its most successful lineup fused post-punk and dark wave elements with Spaghetti Western music and surrealist lyrics drawing on iconography of the American southwest. History Formation Wall of Voodoo had its roots in Acme Soundtracks, a film score business started by Stan Ridgway, later the vocalist and harmonica player for Wall of Voodoo. Joe Nanini
Oliver Joseph Nanini (1955 – December 4, 2000) was an American rock drummer, most famous for being the percussionist and a founding member of new wave group Wall of Voodoo during their heyday in the 1980s. He was known for playing with pots, pans, and other objects. This arrangement can be seen in the motion picture ''Urgh! A Music War'' in which Wall Of Voodoo performed a live version of the song "Back In Flesh" from the '' Dark Continent'' album, and also later in the video for the hit single "Mexican Radio". Along with Stan Ridgway and Bill Noland, he left the band after their performance at the US Festival in 1983. Nanini went on to become one of the co-founders of the neo-traditional band The Lonesome Strangers and played on their first record, ''Lonesome Pine''. Marc Moreland
Marc Moreland (January 8, 1958 – March 13, 2002) was an American rock musician. He was the former guitarist for rock band Wall of Voodoo, punk band The Skulls, and rock bands Pretty and Twisted and Department of Crooks. He also released a solo album under the name Marc Moreland Mess. Early life Moreland grew up in West Covina, California, and was a student at Raymond Pre-School, Vine Elementary School, Hollencrest Intermediate School, West Covina High School and Coronado High School. In the mid-1970s, Moreland was in Cpt. Cosmos de Venus and The Sky People—a metal/glam hybrid. From 1977 to the early '80s, Moreland played guitar in one of the earliest American punk bands, The Skulls. He wrote some of the band's earliest songs, including "Victims" and "Babies". Charles Gray (musician)
Charles Gray is an American musician, best known for his tenure as the guitarist for the Orange County rock band The Aquabats, of which he served as a member from 1995 to 2000 under the stage name of Ultra Kyu and later The Mysterious Kyu (pronounced as the letter Q). He also wrote all the songs for The Goodwin Club, a Ska band from Orange County, from 1993 to 1995. Although Gray was listed as a member of The Aquabats on their 1996 debut album ''The Return of the Aquabats'', he didn't record with the band until their subsequent release, 1997's ''The Fury of the Aquabats!''. Stanard "Stan" Ridgway (born April 5, 1954) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and film and television composer known for his distinctive voice, dramatic lyrical narratives, and eclectic solo albums. He was the original lead singer and a founding member of the band Wall of Voodoo. Early life Stan Ridgway was born in Barstow, California, in the "high desert", and raised in Los Angeles. He claims to have been a budding ventriloquist who spent his first night in jail at the age of 12 for stealing street signs. Ridgway also had a childhood fascination with folk music, pestering his parents until they bought him a banjo at the age of 14. "Mexican Radio" is a song by American new wave band Wall of Voodoo. Produced by Richard Mazda, the track was initially released on their 1982 album '' Call of the West'' and was released as a single. With regular airplay on MTV in the United States, the song had moderate commercial success, peaking at No. 58 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. It did better in other parts of the world, peaking at No. 18 in Canada, No. 21 in New Zealand and No. 33 in Australia. It also reached No. 64 in the UK.
