Stephen S. Fenn
Stephen Southmyd Fenn (March 28, 1820 – April 13, 1892) was a congressional territorial delegate from the Idaho Territory. Born in Watertown, Connecticut, Fenn moved with his parents to Niagara County, New York, in 1824. He attended the public schools and moved in 1841 to Jackson County, Iowa, where he held several local offices. Fenn moved to California in 1850 and engaged in mining and ranching, studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1862 and commenced practice in that part of Washington Territory which became a part of the Territory of Idaho upon its organization in 1863. He also engaged in mining and served as member of the Idaho Territorial council 1864-1867. Fenn served as district attorney for the first judicial district in 1869 and served as member of the Territorial legislature in 1872 and served as speaker of the house. Kooskia, Idaho
Kooskia ( ) is a city in Idaho County, Idaho, United States. It is at the confluence of the South and Middle forks of the Clearwater River, combining to become the main river. The population was 607 at the 2010 census, down from 675 in 2000. History Chief Looking Glass lived in a village a short distance above what is now Kooskia with his band of Nez Perce. This regular home was well within the boundaries of the reservation created in 1863, but just before the Nez Perce War an American General was sent to arrest Chief Looking Glass and all other Nez Perce with him. When trigger-happy militiamen opened fire into the village, many Nez Perce died and their village was destroyed in the scuffle. Because of this incident, Looking Glass joined with the Nez Perce for the Nez Perce War. Idaho County is a county in the U.S. state of Idaho, and the largest by area in the state. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,541. The county seat is Grangeville. Previous county seats of the area were Florence (1864–68), Washington (1868–75), and Mount Idaho (1875–1902). History Idaho County's oldest non-native settlements are ghost towns. Discovery of gold occurred in succession at Elk City, Newsome, and Florence during the spring and summer of 1861. The name camas prairie refers to several different geographical areas in the western United States which were named for the native perennial camassia or camas. Fenn is an unincorporated community in Idaho County, Idaho, United States. It is located on U.S. Route 95 on the Camas Prairie, northwest of Grangeville and south of Cottonwood. Fenn had a post office with ZIP code Originally Tharp, it was named in 1915 (or earlier) after the Fenn family. Stephen S. Fenn (1820–92) arrived in Florence from California in 1862 with his wife and four children.
