Stephen McBean
Black Mountain is a Canadian psychedelic rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia. The band is composed of Stephen McBean, Jeremy Schmidt, Adam Bulgasem, Amber Webber, Arjan Miranda. Since forming in 2004, Black Mountain has released five LPs, '' Black Mountain'' (2005), ''In the Future'' (2008), ''Wilderness Heart'' (2010), '' IV'' (2016) and ''Destroyer'' (2019); two EPs and a number of singles, mostly on the Jagjaguwar label. Overview Early career Stephen (Gord) Gordon McBean (b. 1969), was born in Vancouver and grew up in Kleinburg and Sidney (BC). As a teenager he became interested in music and became part of the local punk-rock scene in Victoria. In The Future
''In the Future'' is the second album by Black Mountain, which was released January 21, 2008. It follows their eponymous debut album which was released in 2005. A "limited edition" of the album was released on the same day with three bonus tracks on a second disc. It debuted on the UK Album Chart at #72. The album art was designed by keyboardist Jeremy Schmidt, who was influenced by Storm Thorgerson's work. The album was a nominee for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize. Franz Nicolay, of The Hold Steady, listed the album as one of his favourite releases in 2008. 2008 Polaris Music Prize
The 2008 edition of the Canadian Polaris Music Prize was presented on September 30, 2008, at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. The prize was won by Caribou for his album ''Andorra''. Unlike in prior years, the Polaris Prize committee did not release a compilation album of songs from the nominated albums. Instead, customers who purchased one of the nominated albums in a record store were given a free card entitling them to download one free song from each album at iTunes. Autolux
Autolux is an American alternative rock band consisting of Eugene Goreshter (vocals, bass), Greg Edwards (vocals, guitar, piano) and Carla Azar (drums, vocals). The trio formed in 2001 and have released three full-length albums, ''Future Perfect'' (2004), ''Transit Transit'' (2010) and ''Pussy's Dead'' (2016). Their sound draws from post-punk, electronic music, krautrock and shoegaze. History Autolux was formed in 2001 in Los Angeles, California. Goreshter and Azar met while writing the score for Nobel Prize-winner Dario Fo's play ''Accidental Death of an Anarchist''. Azar met Edwards when she was on tour with his band, Failure. City Slang is an independent record label based in Berlin, Germany. History The label was founded in 1990 by former tour agent Christof Ellinghaus, exclusively to release The Flaming Lips' '' In A Priest Driven Ambulance (With Silver Sunshine Stares)''. With bands The Lemonheads, Das Damen, and Yo La Tengo also looking for a label to release their 1990 albums, City Slang became, almost by chance, a home for US bands looking to bring their music to the European market. Twisted Logic Tour
The Twisted Logic Tour was the third concert tour undertaken by British rock band Coldplay. It was launched in support of their third studio album, '' X&Y'' (2005) on 15 June 2005, in Hamburg. Before the concert run, they embarked in a series of warm-up shows, which included their first performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and an appearance at the HFStival. Following the Australian and Asian legs, the band decided to rest for an extended period to produce ''Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends'' (2008), concluding the tour with a Latin American run in 2007. Destroyer (band)
Destroyer is a Canadian indie rock band from Vancouver, formed in 1995. The band is fronted by founding member Dan Bejar, with a collective of regular band members and collaborators joining him in the studio and during live performances. Alongside Bejar, Destroyer currently includes longtime producers John Collins (bass) and David Carswell (guitar), Nicolas Bragg (lead guitar), Ted Bois (keyboards), JP Carter (trumpet) and Joshua Wells (drums). Melvins
Melvins (sometimes The Melvins) are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. Initially, they performed as a trio but later also sometimes appeared as a quartet, with either two drummers or two bassists. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members. Kleinburg
Kleinburg is an unincorporated village in the city of Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. It is home to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, an art gallery with a focus on the Group of Seven, and the Kortright Centre for Conservation. In 2001, the village and its surrounding communities had a population of 4,595; the village itself has 282 dwellings, with a population of 952.
