Stephen Madsen
Stephen Ross Madsen (born 15 August 1992) is an Australian actor. He is best known for his role as Jason "J.D." Dean in the Australian production of '' Heathers: The Musical'', and in 2017, he originated the role of Alexander Shkuratov in the musical ''Muriel's Wedding''. Early life and education Madsen is the son of Sally, a doctor, and Ross, growing up in Mona Vale, New South Wales. As a child he attended Mona Vale Primary School and, later, Manly Selective Campus. Madsen graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2014. Career In 2015, Madsen appeared in a production of ''The Catalinas of Crawley Bay'' at His Majesty's Theatre, Perth on 29 April 2015. He later portrayed Jason "J.D." Dean in the premiere Australian production of '' Heathers: The Musical'' at the Hayes Theatre from 22 July until 9 August. Arts Centre Melbourne, originally known as the Victorian Arts Centre and briefly called the Arts Centre, is a performing arts centre consisting of a complex of theatres and concert halls in the Melbourne Arts Precinct, located in the central Melbourne suburb of Southbank in Victoria, Australia. ''The View UpStairs'' is a musical with music, lyrics and book by Max Vernon based on the real-life events of the 1973 arson attack at the UpStairs Lounge, a gay bar in New Orleans. This attack resulted in the deaths of 32 people, the deadliest attack on a gay club in U.S. history before the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting. The show is inspired by and pays tributes to many of the patrons who frequented the venue. The single-act show runs for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes and is set entirely within the UpStairs Lounge. The Roslyn Packer Theatre Walsh Bay is a theatre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The theatre is on Hickson Road at Walsh Bay, west of The Wharf Theatre, opposite Pier 6/7 on Walsh Bay. Wharf Theatre
The Wharf Theatre is a theatre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. This theatre is part of the Sydney Theatre Company and located on Pier 4/5 of the former Sydney port facility in Walsh Bay at Dawes Point. History In 1829, the first jetty in the area of Pier 4/5 was constructed and called ‘Pitman’s Wharf’. In 1919, work on Pier 4/5, was completed by H.D Walsh. In 1979, the Sydney Theatre Company was searching for a home. Elizabeth Butcher, administrator at NIDA, discovered the derelict finger wharves at Walsh Bay and proposed that Pier 4/5 be restored and become STC's place of residence. ''Cleansed'' is the third play by the English playwright Sarah Kane. It was first performed in 1998 at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs in London. The play is set in a university which (according to the blurb of the published script) is operating as "an institution designed to rid society of its undesirables" where "a group of inmates try to save themselves through love" while under the rule of the sadistic Tinker. When the play premiered at the Royal Court in April 1998, Kane played the part of Grace for the last three performances because of an injury that the original actress suffered. It is sometimes claimed that Tinker was named after the theatre critic for British newspaper ''The Daily Mail'', Jack Tinker, whose review of Kane's first play ''Blasted'' was headlined "this disgusting feast of filth", but there does not appear to be any evidence of Kane confirming this. Sydney Theatre Company (STC) is an Australian theatre company based in Sydney, New South Wales. The company performs in The Wharf Theatre at Dawes Point in The Rocks area of Sydney, as well as the Roslyn Packer Theatre (formerly Sydney Theatre) and the Sydney Opera House Drama Theatre.
