Stephen Harris (1913–1980) was a British Post-Impressionist artist. He has been described as “a 20th-century English painter of first importance." (''Art Review'', October 2002, Volume LIII) Since his death in 1980, Harris’ surviving body of work has been the subject of increasing academic and commercial interest. The first reproductions of his work appeared in an article in ''Art Review'' in 2002. Biography Harris was born at Langton Herring in Dorset in 1913, the son of a serving Petty Officer. At age 10, Harris was sent to the Royal Naval School at Greenwich. Recognizing his talent, the superintendent of the school transferred him at his own expense to Battersea Polytechnic to study art. Later he moved to the City and Guilds of London Art School and became a pupil of Duncan Grant. Harris won the silver medal for drawing in 1937, and also won an international poster competition. Kid Chaos, also known as Haggis (born Stephen Harris), is a British rock bassist and guitarist who played in incarnations of hard rock bands Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction, The Cult and The Four Horsemen as well as guesting with ''Appetite for Destruction'' era Guns N' Roses. History Harris was born in 1966, in Swansea, Wales. He joined his first group, The Autonomes, at age 13, . At 16 he failed most of his O-levels and left school. Harris enrolled in the Youth Enterprise Scheme, setting up a record label called Fierce Recordings with a friend. Various record label dealings brought him to the attention of the just forming Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction and he joined the band as their bass guitarist in October 1985, appearing on their mini album ''High Priest of Love''. Stephen Randall Harris (1802–1879) was an American politician, physician, a city comptroller, and city coroner. He served as the 3rd mayor of San Francisco, California, from January 1 – November 9, 1852. Biography Stephen Randall Harris was born in 1802 in Poughkeepsie, New York. After his father was killed in the War of 1812, he went to live with relatives. He was then apprenticed to a surgeon and entered New York's College of Physicians and Surgeons. After graduating in 1826, he began his own practice in New York City, where he lived until 1849. During this time, he earned a good reputation within the medical community there, enabling him to be health commissioner of New York, the surgeon for the Ninth Military Regiment, and as the surgeon for the New York almshouse. Stephen Ross Harris (May 22, 1824 – January 15, 1905) was an American lawyer and politician who served one term as a U.S. Representative from Ohio from 1895 to 1897. He was an uncle of Ebenezer Byron Finley. Biography Born seven miles west of Massillon, Ohio, Harris attended the common and select schools, Washington College (Pennsylvania), Norwalk (Ohio) Seminary, and Western Reserve College, then at Hudson, Ohio. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1849 and commenced practice in Columbus, Ohio. He moved to Bucyrus, Ohio, the same year and continued the practice of law. He became law partner of Josiah Scott from 1850 to Scott's death in 1879, except that time Scott was on the Ohio Supreme Court. He served as mayor of Bucyrus 1852, 1853, 1861, and 1862.
