Stephen Hale OBE is the Chief Architect oClimate Catalyst a new organisation established in March 2021 to accelerate action on climate change through building diverse coalitions of businesses, investors, civil society groups and other champions of climate action to influence national governments. Stephen was Chief Executive of Refugee Action from 2015 - March 2021. He was named as charity chief executive of the year for 2019 in September 2019. Refugee Action was runner up in the 2020 Third Sector Charity of the Year category. During his time at Refugee Action he blogged regularly on how the UK could meet its responsibilities to support those fleeing war and persecution including for HuffPost. Stephen was a trustee of Friends of the Earth from 2014 to 2018, and a trustee of the Samworth Foundation from 2015 to 2019. Stephen Hale (bishop)
Stephen J. Hale is an Australian bishop in the Anglican Church of Australia. He served as an assistant bishop in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne, as the Bishop for the Eastern Region, from 2001 to 2009, during which time Hale had oversight of over 70 churches in the east of Melbourne. Hale grew up in the Anglican Church in Sydney. He studied at Sydney University then taught at Leeton, New South Wales in the Anglican Diocese of Riverina, for four years. When he returned to Sydney, Hale studied at Moore Theological College and his first position was at St Paul's Anglican Church, Castle Hill. While there, St Paul's became the biggest Anglican church in Australia. In 1988, Hale was invited to Melbourne by Archbishop David Penman to head up a new youth department where he served for eight years.
