Stephen Gollogly
Stephen 'The lynx' Gollogly is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for the Carrickmacross Emmets club and at senior level for the Monaghan county team. He finished as the sixth highest scorer in the Ulster Senior Football Championship scoring 7 points. He played in the 2005 Ulster Final defeat to Tyrone in which they lost by 2 points in a scoreline of Tyrone 1-15 Monaghan 1–13. He also played against Kerry in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Quarter Final 2007 and they narrowly lost in a score of Kerry 1-12 Monaghan 1–11. Stephen attended the Patrician High School in Carrickmacross where he won a couple of Ulster Colleges titles, most notably the Rannafast Cup. He was also full forward on the MacRory Cup side that lost to eventual winners St. Pats Maghera in the semi-final. He was named at left half forward on the Colleges All-Star team of 2003. Monaghan ( ; ) is the county town of County Monaghan, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It also provides the name of its Civil parishes in Ireland, civil parish and Monaghan (barony), barony. 2013 Ulster Senior Football Championship
The 2013 Ulster Senior Football Championship was the 125th installment of the annual Ulster Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of the Ulster GAA. Donegal were the defending Ulster and All-Ireland champions and were aiming for their third consecutive provincial title. The final of the competition was contested by two teams from south of the border for the first time since 1983. This was confirmed when Donegal defeated Down in the first semi-final, with the second semi-final between Monaghan and Cavan still to play. Monaghan won that semi-final and went on to win their first Ulster title in 25 years when they overcame Donegal on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-7 in Clones. They had previously lost finals in 2007 and 2010. They received the Anglo-Celt Cup, and automatically advanced to the quarter-final stage of the 2013 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. MacRory Cup
The MacRory Cup is an inter-college (school) Gaelic football tournament in Ulster at senior "A" grade. The MacLarnon Cup is the competition for schools at senior 'B' grade. Players must be under nineteen at the start of the tournament. The winners advance to the semi-finals of the Hogan Cup, the All-Ireland colleges "A" senior football championship. The competition and trophy are named after Joseph MacRory, then Bishop of Down and Connor, who donated the first cup in 1923. The current champions are St Mary's Grammar School, Magherafelt, who beat first-time finalists Holy Trinity College, Cookstown in the 2022 final. The final is held every year on (or close to) Saint Patrick's Day and is televised live on BBC Northern Ireland along with the Ulster Rugby Schools Cup final.
