Stephen Joseph Samuel Cole (born March 29, 1954) is a retired British journalist, producer, news anchor and television presenter. He was the creative force behind BBC ''Click'' and its first host from 2000-2006. Cole was also part of the original launch lineup for Sky News in 1989, the revamped CNN International in 1995 and the launch of Al Jazeera English in 2006, as well as anchoring for BBC World News from 1996-2006. Early life Cole was born on March 29, 1954, in Hereford, England, to Brian Cole, a businessman, and Patricia Cole (née Smith), who served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) during World War II at Bletchley Park, where she was tasked with decrypting Luftwaffe signals. Stephen Cole (born June 1, 1941, died September 7, 2018) was an American sociologist, who was a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Stony Brook University (retired since 2011). Steven Cole (born 1949) is an American opera singer. He is particularly known for his portrayal of tenor character roles in an international career spanning more than 30 years. He sang in the world premieres of Jean Prodromides's ''La Noche Triste'', Gavin Bryars's ''Medea'', and the revised version of György Ligeti's ''Le Grand Macabre''. Life and career Cole was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He studied sociology and anthropology at Union College and singing at the Peabody Conservatory and at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. Steve Cole (born August 17, 1970) is an American smooth jazz saxophonist. He is also a professor/adviser of music business at the University of St. Thomas. Early career and education Cole was born in Chicago, Illinois and began to play music at a young age. At first, he trained classically, following in his father's footsteps with the clarinet before switching to the saxophone in high school. While at Northwestern University, he studied classical saxophone before changing his field to economics, eventually earning an MBA from The University of Chicago. After leaving school, Cole returned his focus to music; in particular, jazz. In 2000 his first solo album ''Stay Awhile'' won him the ''Prism Award for Best New Artist'' at the ''Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards''.
