Stephanie Brunner (born 20 February 1994) is an Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer. Slalom Skiing
Slalom is an alpine skiing and alpine snowboarding discipline, involving skiing between poles or gates. These are spaced more closely than those in giant slalom, super-G, super giant slalom and Downhill (ski competition), downhill, necessitating quicker and shorter turns. Internationally, the sport is contested at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, and at the Olympic Winter Games. The Women's Combined competition in the 2015–16 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, 2016 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup involved three events, first a Alpine skiing combined, super-combined (downhill and one run of Slalom skiing, slalom), and then two Alpine skiing, Alpine combined (a Super-G and one run of slalom). 2016 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Women's Downhill
The women's downhill competition in the 2016 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup involved nine events, including the season finale in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Defending champion Lindsey Vonn of the USA won five of the first six races in the season and, after finishing second in a race at La Thuile (the Italian side of Mont Blanc), wrapped the season title (her eighth in the discipline) with one race remaining -- which was fortunate, as Vonn suffered a season ending injury in the very next race (a Super-G). 2016 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Women's Super-G
The women's super-G competition in the 2016 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup involved sight events, including the season final in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The season competition was a two-person battle between 2014 discipline champion Lara Gut from Switzerland and defending discipline champion (and five-time winner) Lindsey Vonn from the USA. Vonn won all of the first three races, but she suffered a season-ending injury in the sixth. Coming into the finals, Gut was still behind Vonn, but she and two other racers (Liechtenstein's Tina Weirather and Austria's Cornelia Hütter) could overtake Vonn with strong performances in the finals. The 49th World Cup season began on 25 October 2014, in Sölden, Austria, and concluded on 22 March 2015 at the World Cup finals in Meribel, France. The 48th World Cup season began on 26 October 2013, in Sölden, Austria, and concluded on 16 March 2014 at the World Cup finals in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. The defending overall champions from the 2013 season were Marcel Hirscher of Austria and Tina Maze of Slovenia. The overall titles were won by Hirscher and Anna Fenninger, also of Austria. The season was interrupted by the 2014 Winter Olympics that took place from 7 to 23 February in Sochi, Russia, with the alpine events at Rosa Khutor. Summary The men's title was won by Hirscher for the third time in a row, becoming the first man to achieve this since Phil Mahre in 1983. Hirscher secured the title after the second-to-last race of the season when he beat Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway, who did not compete in slalom. The 46th World Cup season began on 22 October 2011, in Sölden, Austria, and concluded on 18 March 2012, at the World Cup finals in Schladming, Austria. Two pre-Olympic races took place at Rosa Khutor, the alpine venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Two city events, first held as a part of World Cup in the 2011 season, were scheduled for Munich and Moscow, but the Munich event was cancelled due to warm temperatures. Lindsey Vonn won her fourth overall women's title in five years, clinching it with a giant slalom win on 9 March at Åre, Sweden. Vonn's title put her second on the all-time list behind Annemarie Moser-Pröll's tally of six titles. The men's overall title went to the final event at Schladming, where Austria's Marcel Hirscher prevailed over Switzerland's Beat Feuz.
