Stephan Huber
Stephan Huber (born 1952 in Lindenberg im Allgäu) is a German sculptor and object artist. Life After his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich (1971–1978), Huber received a grant for the P.S.1 studio programme in New York (now MoMA PS1). He has since exhibited internationally, including Documenta VIII in 1987 and the Venice Biennale in 1999 as well as numerous one person shows (Kunstverein Hannover, Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig, Kunsthalle Mannheim, Von-der-Heydt-Museum, Wuppertal, Third Eye Centre, Glasgow, Villa Romana, Florence, Bonner Kunstverein, Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster, Lenbachhaus, Munich and others). Lindenberg Im Allgäu
Lindenberg im Allgäu (Low Alemannic German, Low Alemannic: ''Lindaberg'') is the second largest Town#Germany, town of the district of Lindau (district), Lindau in Bavaria, Germany. It is an acknowledged air health resort. History The town was first mentioned in 857, when two nobles donated in "Lintiberc" to the Abbey of St. Gall, monastery of St. Gall. In 1570, the Habsburg monarchy, Austrian branch of the House of Habsburg acquired the demesne of the heirless sovereignty of Altenburg, including Lindenberg, back then a consolidation of about 70 farms. The city fell to Bavaria in 1805 as part of Napoleon's Peace of Pressburg (1805), Treaty of Pressburg. As early as 1656 straw hats from Lindenberg were sold by peddling and in markets. In 1755, the production and shipping of straw hats became organized. The hat industry has declined in recent decades and now has hardly any economic importance. Third Eye Centre
The Third Eye Centre was a contemporary arts centre in Glasgow, founded by Scottish writer Tom McGrath in 1975. The building was at 350 Sauchiehall Street, close to the Glasgow School of Art, and was purchased by the Scottish Arts Council. The venue closed in the early 1990s to become the Centre for Contemporary Arts in 1992. The choice of the centre's name was influenced by the teaching of Indian spiritual master Sri Chinmoy who also gave a talk there. Margarethe Jochimsen
Margarethe Jochimsen, ''née'' Müller, (14 August 1931 - 15 September 2016) was a German curator, art critic and museum director. Life and career Müller studied political science and art history. In 1961 she married the politician (1933-1999), with whom she had a daughter and a son. From 1978 to 1986 Jochimsen was director of the as an art historian with a doctorate and its chairman until 1996. In 1988 she was the initiator for the rescue of the house of August Macke in Bonn; subsequently she was the founding director of the August-Macke-Haus in 1991 and headed it until 2002. Among other things she was editor of the series of publications of the association August Macke Haus. Müller died in Freiburg im Breisgau at age 85. Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart
The Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart was founded in 1827 and is one of the oldest art associations in Germany. The association, which today has around 3,000 members, is based in the Kunstgebäude Stuttgart and is dedicated to communicating contemporary art. The curator and publicist Martin Fritz has been the chairman of the Württembergischer Kunstverein, which belongs to the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine (ADKV), since 2018. Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex
The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex (German Zeche Zollverein) is a large former industrial site in the city of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The first coal mine on the premises was founded in 1847, and mining activities took place from 1851 until December 23, 1986. For decades, starting in the late 1950s, the two parts of the site, ''Zollverein Coal Mine'' and ''Zollverein Coking Plant'' (erected 1957−1961, closed on June 30, 1993), ranked among the largest of their kinds in Europe. Else Lasker-Schüler
Else Lasker-Schüler (née Elisabeth Schüler) (; 11 February 1869 – 22 January 1945) was a German-Jewish poet and playwright famous for her bohemian lifestyle in Berlin and her poetry. She was one of the few women affiliated with the Expressionist movement. Lasker-Schüler fled Nazi Germany and lived out the rest of her life in Jerusalem. Biography Schüler was born in Elberfeld, now a district of Wuppertal. Her mother, Jeannette Schüler (née Kissing) was a central figure in her poetry; the main character of her play ''Die Wupper'' was inspired by her father, Aaron Schüler, a Jewish banker. Main Tower
Main Tower is a 56-storey, skyscraper in the Innenstadt district of Frankfurt, Germany. It is named after the nearby Main river. The building is when its antenna spire is included. The tower has five underground floors and two public viewing platforms. It is the only skyscraper in Frankfurt with a public viewing observatory. It is the 4th tallest building in Frankfurt and the 4th tallest in Germany, tied with Tower 185. The Allgäu (Standard German: , also Allgovia) is a region in Swabia in southern Germany. It covers the south of Bavarian Swabia, southeastern Baden-Württemberg, and parts of Austria. Lenbachhaus
The Lenbachhaus () is a building housing an art museum in Munich's '' Kunstareal''. The building The Lenbachhaus was built as a Florentine-style villa for the painter Franz von Lenbach between 1887 and 1891 by Gabriel von Seidl and was expanded 1927–1929 by Hans Grässel and again 1969–1972 by Heinrich Volbehr and Rudolf Thönnessen. Some of the rooms have kept their original design. The city of Munich acquired the building in 1924 and opened a museum there in 1929. The latest wing was closed to the public in 2009 to allow the expansion and restoration of the Lenbachhaus by Norman Foster; the 1972 extension was demolished to make way for the new building. The museum reopened in May 2013. The architect placed the new main entrance on Museumsplatz in front of the Propylaea.
