Stepanivka ( uk, Степанівка, russian: Степановка) is an urban-type settlement in Sumy Raion of Sumy Oblast in Ukraine. It is located on the left bank of the Sumka, a right tributary of the Psel, in the drainage basin of the Dnieper. Stepanivka hosts the administration of Stepanivka settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Sumy Oblast
Sumy Oblast ( uk, Сумська́ о́бласть, translit=Sumska oblast; also referred to as Sumshchyna – uk, Су́мщина) is an oblast (province) in the northeastern part of Ukraine. Population: The oblast was created in its most recent form, from the merging of raions from Kharkiv Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, and Poltava Oblast in 1939 by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. The administrative center of the oblast is the city of Sumy. Other important cities within the oblast include Konotop, Okhtyrka, Romny, and Shostka. Stepanivka Settlement Hromada
Stepanivka ( uk, Степанівка), sometimes transcribed as Stepanovka (russian: Степановка), in Ukraine, is the site of an ancient settlement dating to 5000 - 4300 B.C. belonging to the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture. The settlement was for the time large, covering an area of 15 hectares. This proto-city are just one of 2440 Cucuteni-Trypillia settlements discovered so far in Moldova and Ukraine. 194 (8%) of these settlements had an area of more than 10 hectares between 5000 - 2700 B.C. and more than 29 settlements had an area in the range 100 - 300 - 450 Hectares. The site is near the (modern village) Stepanivka (Perevalskyi Raion) in Luhansk Oblast. On 28 July 2014, Ukrainian forces reportedly secured this village from pro-Russian separatists. Konotop
Konotop ( uk, Конотоп ) is a city in Sumy Oblast in northeastern Ukraine. Konotop serves as the administrative center of Konotop Raion. Konotop is located about 129 km from Sumy, the oblast administrative center. It is host to Konotop air base, now held by Ukraine. Toropylivka Railway Station
Toropylivka (Ukrainian: Торопилівка) is a railway station in Stepanivka, Sumy Oblast, Ukraine. The station serves as a minor passenger station as well as a major freight yard for nearby businesses in Stepanivka. It is on the Sumy Branch of Southern Railways on the Bilopillya-Basy line. Toropylivka is located between the stations of Sumy ( away) and Holovashivka ( away). The reason for the discovery was the construction of a sugar factory in 1893, which needed a railway to supply raw materials.
