Cajamarca (; qu, Kashamarka; ay, Qajamarka) is a department and region in Peru. The capital is the city of Cajamarca. It is located in the north part of the country and shares a border with Ecuador. ''Stenomesson leucanthum'' is a species of flowering plant in the family Amaryllidaceae. It is native to Peru. Pierfelice Ravenna the Chilean botanists who first formally described the species, using the basionym ''Pucara leucantha'', named it after its white (Latinized form of Greek , leukós) flowers (Latinized form of Greek , ánthos). Description It is a perennial herb with a round bulb that is 3.7-4.8 centimeters in diameter. Its leaves are often solitary and are 10-12 by 2-3 centimeters with pointed tips. Its inflorescences are on a stem-like stalk that is 15-50 centimeters long. The flowering stalk is 5 millimeters at its apex. The flowering stalk is circular in cross section. Its flowers occur in clusters at the top of the stalk. The cluster of flowers is subtended by narrow, papery bracts that are 2.5-3.1 centimeters long and come to a point at their tips. Hipólito Ruiz López (August 8, 1754 in Belorado, Burgos, Spain – 1816 in Madrid), or Hipólito Ruiz, was a Spanish botanist known for researching the floras of Peru and Chile during an expedition under Carlos III from 1777 to 1788. During the reign of Carlos III, three major botanical expeditions were sent to the New World; Ruiz and José Antonio Pavón Jiménez were the botanists for the first of these expeditions, to Peru and Chile. Background After studying Latin with an uncle who was a priest, at the age of 14 Ruiz López went to Madrid to study logic, physics, chemistry and pharmacology. He also studied botany at the Migas Calientes Botanical Gardens (now the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid), under the supervision of Casimiro Gómez Ortega (1741–1818) and Antonio Palau Verdera (1734–1793). Amazonas () is a department and region in northern Peru bordered by Ecuador on the north and west, Cajamarca on the west, La Libertad on the south, and Loreto and San Martín on the east. Alan Meerow and Henk van der Werff the botanists who first formally described the species, named it after its green (Latinized form of Greek , khlōrós) flowers (Latinized form of Greek , ánthos). Description It is a perennial herb with a round bulb that is 2.5-4 centimeters in diameter. It has 2-3 dull, olive green leaves that are 25-29 by 2-2.5 centimeters with blunt tips. Its inflorescences are on a stem-like stalk that is 30-40 centimeters long. The flowering stalk is 7-8 millimeters in diameter at its base tapering to 5 millimeters at its apex. The flowering stalk is circular and solid in cross section. Its flowers occur in clusters of 5-10 at the top of the stalk. Tarapacá Region
The Tarapacá Region ( es, Región de Tarapacá, ) is one of Chile's 16 first-order administrative divisions. It comprises two provinces, Iquique and Tamarugal. It borders the Chilean Arica and Parinacota Region to the north, Bolivia's Oruro Department and Potosí Department on the east, Chile's Antofagasta Region to the south and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The port city of Iquique is the region's capital.
