''Stellar'' is a Canadian romantic drama film, directed by Darlene Naponse and released in 2022. The film stars Braeden Clarke and Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers as an indigenous man and woman who meet and initiate a romantic relationship, setting off a cosmic chain of events that may save the world from destruction. The film entered production in 2021 on the territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation near Sudbury, Ontario. Its cast also includes Rossif Sutherland, K. C. Collins, Billy Merasty, Tina Keeper and R. H. Thomson. The film premiered in the Contemporary World Cinema program at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, 2022. Rossif Sutherland (born September 25, 1978) is a Canadian actor. He, along with his brothers Angus and Roeg and half-brother Kiefer, are the sons of Donald Sutherland. Early life and education Sutherland was born in Vancouver, but lived in Paris, France, from age seven. He is the second son of Canadian actors Donald Sutherland and Francine Racette, brother of actor Angus Sutherland and Roeg Sutherland, and paternal half-brother of actor Kiefer Sutherland and his twin sister Rachel Sutherland. Billy Merasty (born 1960) is an Aboriginal Canadian actor and writer of Cree descent. Early life Merasty was born in Brochet, Manitoba, Canada. He is the ninth of fourteen siblings born to Viola and Pierre Merasty, and a grandson of Joe Highway, a famous caribou hunter and champion dogsled racer; and related to playwright Tomson Highway and dancer, choreographer, actor, and director René Highway. Career Merasty moved to Toronto at the age of 18 in search of René Highway, who was then working for the Toronto Dance Theatre. At the age of 23, he launched his acting career after graduating from the Centre for Indigenous Theatre for aspiring First Nations artists.
