Stella Richman
Stella Richman (9 November 1922 – 24 May 2002) was a British television producer. Biography Originally an actress—she had a bit part in the second episode of '' The Quatermass Experiment'' in 1953—Richman was appointed as a script editor of single plays at ATV by Lew Grade in 1960.Philip PurseObituary: Stella Richman ''The Guardian'', 31 May 2002 Grade's sole condition was that her commissions did not gain disastrous ratings. According to Frederic Raphael, "Richman proved, by her demanding eclecticism, that quality was not the enemy of popularity. Alec Clunes
Alexander Sheriff de Moro Clunes (17 May 1912 – 13 March 1970) was an English actor and theatrical manager. Among the plays he presented were Christopher Fry's ''The Lady's Not For Burning''. He gave the actor and dramatist Peter Ustinov his first break with his production ''The House of Regrets''. His film career was brief, but varied. He played Hastings in Laurence Olivier's ''Richard III'' (1955), and also appeared in wartime films such as ''One of Our Aircraft Is Missing'' (1942), although he was in fact a conscientious objector. He also appeared in '' The Adventures of Quentin Durward'' (1955). Clunes' later stage work included succeeding Rex Harrison as Henry Higgins in the stage musical ''My Fair Lady'' in 1959. The ''Clayhanger'' Family is a series of novels by Arnold Bennett, published between 1910 and 1918. Though the series is commonly referred to as a "trilogy", and the first three novels were published in a single volume, as ''The Clayhanger Family'', in 1925, there are actually four books. All four are set in the "Five Towns", Bennett's thinly disguised version of the six towns of the Staffordshire Potteries. Enoch Arnold Bennett (27 May 1867 – 27 March 1931) was an English author, best known as a novelist. He wrote prolifically: between the 1890s and the 1930s he completed 34 novels, seven volumes of short stories, 13 plays (some in collaboration with other writers), and a daily journal totalling more than a million words. He wrote articles and stories for more than 100 newspapers and periodicals, worked in and briefly ran the Ministry of Information in the First World War, and wrote for the cinema in the 1920s. Thames Television, commonly simplified to just Thames, was a franchise holder for a region of the British ITV television network serving London and surrounding areas from 30 July 1968 until the night of 31 December 1992. Thames Television broadcast from 9:25 Monday morning to 5:15 Friday afternoon (7:00 Friday night until 1982) at which time it would hand over to London Weekend Television (LWT). Formed as a joint company, it merged the television interests of British Electric Traction (trading as Associated-Rediffusion) owning 49%, and Associated British Picture Corporation—soon taken over by EMI—owning 51%. David Frost
Sir David Paradine Frost (7 April 1939 – 31 August 2013) was a British television host, journalist, comedian and writer. He rose to prominence during the satire boom in the United Kingdom when he was chosen to host the satirical programme '' That Was the Week That Was'' in 1962. His success on this show led to work as a host on American television.
