Stella Maessen
Stella Maessen (born 6 August 1953 in Zandvoort, North Holland) is a Dutch singer, best known for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contests of 1970, 1977 and 1982. Hearts of Soul In 1969 Maessen and her older sisters Patricia and Bianca formed a group, calling themselves Hearts of Soul. Following several single releases, and a No. 11 chart hit with "Fat Jack", they took part in the 1970 Dutch Eurovision selection, where their song " Waterman" ("Aquarius") earned a narrow victory, qualifying them for the 15th Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 21 March on home ground in Amsterdam. Technically, groups of more than two singers were still barred from Eurovision at that time, so to get around this they billed themselves as 'Patricia and the Hearts of Soul', implying that Stella and Bianca were backing singers to Patricia's lead. Zandvoort
Zandvoort () is a municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is one of the major beach resorts of the Netherlands; it has a long sandy beach. Belgium was represented by Emly Starr, with the song "Samson", at the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Dublin on 4 April. Before Eurovision Eurosong The Belgian preselection consisted of three heats, followed by the final on 7 March 1981. All the shows took place at the Amerikaans Theater in Brussels, hosted by Luc Appermont. Emly Starr
Emly Starr (born 5 September 1957 in Laarne, Belgium; birth name Marie-Christine Mareels) is a Belgian disco singer. She also appeared in the documentary film ''Santiago Lovers'' by Romano Ferrari. She has participated in several dance and song contests. In the World Popular Song Festival at Tokyo in 1980 with the entry "Mary Brown", she was finalist as Emly Starr Explosion. Starr entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1981, where she performed "Samson" and finished in 13th place. In 1985, she appeared in the role of Erika in the film ''Jumping'' (Dutch: ''Springen'') directed by Jean-Pierre De Decker, a film which was submitted to the 59th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film but not nominated, where she sang the song "Jump in the Dark", that was in the film's soundtrack. Belgium was represented by Jean Vallée, with the song "L'amour ça fait chanter la vie", at the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 22 April in Paris. Before Eurovision Eurosong French-language broadcaster RTBF was in charge of the selection of the Belgian entry for the 1978 Contest. Jean Vallée (born Paul Goeders in Verviers on 2 October 1941 – 12 March 2014, Clermont-sur-Berwinne) was a Belgian songwriter and performer. Vallée was appointed Knight of the Order of the Crown by HM Albert II in 1999. Career In 1967 Vallée represented Belgium in the Festival of Rio, where Jacques Brel was a member of the jury. Rapsat was the winner of the Belgian national final for the contest, held on 21 January. Pierre Rapsat (born Pierre Raepsaet, 28 May 1948 – 20 April 2002) was a Belgian singer-songwriter who had a very successful career in his homeland and also spells of popularity in other Francophone countries. Outside these areas, he is best known for his participation in the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest. Early life and career Rapsat was born in the Ixelles municipality of Brussels to a Flemish father and a mother of Asturian descent. When Rapsat was 10 years old the family moved to Verviers, which remained his home for the rest of his life. He started performing with various groups before launching a solo career in 1973. His musical style was eclectic, ranging from rock to chanson, but at this stage earned him little success. Saskia & Serge are a Dutch vocal duo consisting of singer Trudy van den Berg (born 23 April 1947, Grootebroek) and singer-guitarist Ruud Schaap (born 22 March 1946, Den Helder). They are known for their participation in the 1971 Eurovision Song Contest, and have enjoyed a long and successful career in their native Netherlands, where they were awarded the title of Knights of the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2004.
