Stella Díaz Varín
Stella Díaz Varín (11 August 1926 – 13 June 2006), also known as ''La Colorina'' ("The Redhead"), was a Chilean poet of the Generation of '50. Her unprecedented deep and philosophical style, as well as her controversial personality, marked a before and after in Chilean poetry. Biography Stella Díaz Varín was born on 11 August 1926 in La Serena, Chile, into a middle-class family. Her mother was a descendant of a highborn family of French origin that had fallen on hard times. Her father was an anarchist clockmaker who fostered in Díaz Varín her political ideals. Their economic situation and her father's ideas, together with her passionate readings, moved her from a very young age to write and publish poems and articles in local newspapers. In a public act in 1946, she read a poem in front of the Chilean president Gabriel González Videla which was dedicated to him. The National Book Council ( mt, Il-Kunsill Nazzjonali tal-Ktieb), is a Maltese public entity dedicated to the promotion of the book industry in Malta. Enrique Lihn
Enrique Lihn Carrasco (3 September 1929 – 10 July 1988) was a Chilean poet, playwright, and novelist. The son of Enrique Lihn Doll and María Carrasco Délano, he married Ivette Mingram (1932–2008). They had one daughter, the actress Andrea María Lihn Mingram. Linh was born in Santiago, Chile. He aspired to be a painter but after a failed attempt at pursuing this ambition during university he abandoned that dream to pursue writing. He proceeded to develop into a poet, playwright, and novelist and would teach literature at the University of Chile. Lihn viewed both the past and the future as forms of death, and his emphasis on this point is evident throughout his literary works. His work revolved around his anger for the contemporary dictatorship, as Chile was governed by a military junta.
