Stelios Ioannou (Greek: Στέλιος Ιωάννου; born July 28, 1987 in Athens, Greece) is a Greek professional basketball player. He is 6'7" and plays at the shooting guard position. Greek National Basketball Team
The Greece men's national basketball team ( el, Eθνική Oμάδα Καλαθοσφαίρισης Ελλάδος) represents Greece in international basketball. They are controlled by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Greece. Greece is currently ranked ninth in the FIBA World Rankings. Greece appeared eight times at the FIBA World Cup, their best performance coming in 2006 as runners-up, after beating the United States 101–95 in the tournament's semi-final. Greece took part the in the EuroBasket 28 times, winning the tournament twice; while also coming away with one silver ( 1989) as well as two bronze medals (1949, 2009). Panathinaikos Football Club B, known as Panathinaikos B, (Greek: ΠΑΕ Παναθηναϊκός B) is a Greek football club based in Athens, Greece. Founded in 2021, they play as the reserve team of Panathinaikos in the Super League Greece 2. Panathinaikos B is one of four reserve teams givens approval from the EPO ( Hellenic Football Association) to play in the second division. Reserve teams must play a league below their main side, therefore, Panathinaikos B are ineligible for promotion to the Super League Greece. They cannot play in the Greek Cup either. Agamemnon "Memos" Ioannou ( el, Αγαμέμνων "Μέμος" Ιωάννου; born April 15th, 1958 in Greece) is a retired Greek professional basketball player and coach. At 6'2¾" (1.90 m), he played at the point guard and shooting guard positions. Professional playing career Ioannou had a successful playing career with Panathinaikos, as he won 6 Greek League championships (1975, 1977, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1984) and 4 Greek Cups (1979, 1982, 1983, 1986) with the club. He also won another Greek Cup with Aris, in the 1991–92 season. At that final, he was interim coach. In 1991, he won the FIBA European Cup Winners' Cup (later called FIBA Saporta Cup) championship, while playing with PAOK. The Greek Basket League (GBL), often also referred to as the Greek A1 Basketball League, or Greek Basketball Championship (originally called Panhellenic Basketball Championship), and also known as the Stoiximan Basket League for sponsorship reasons, is the first tier level professional basketball league in Greece. It is run by HEBA ( el, ΕΣΑΚΕ, link=no), under the legal authority of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). It is the highest-tier level of the Greek league system.
