Steinsfjorden
Steinsfjorden is a branch of the lake Tyrifjorden located in Buskerud, Norway. It has a length of about eight kilometers, stretching from the sound Kroksund at Sundvollen northwards to Åsa, in the municipalities of Ringerike and Hole. At the eastern side are steep cliffs towards Krokskogen Krokskogen is a forested area which located outside of Oslo, Norway. It is a part of Oslomarka and is situated between Bærumsmarka, Vestmarka and Nordmarka. The wooded and hilly area of around 300 square kilometres is bordered by Oslo and by .... At the western side of Steinsfjorden is Stein Gård, the largest farm in Buskerud. The ruins of Stein Church (''Stein kirkeruin'') are located on Stein Gård. Åsa is a village in Ringerike municipality in Buskerud, Norway. Åsa is located at the upper end of Steinsfjorden, the eastern branch of lake Tyrifjorden. The village stretches from Åsaporten, the first road tunnel towards Åsa from Norderhov, and around the north end and east side of the fjord area, south to the border with Hole. History Åsa was named after two farms around the mouth of the Åsaelva river. In the 19th century, the colloquial name of the village was Finnefjerdingen. Åsa has one elementary school called Steinsfjorden skole, a Montessori education school with around 22 children, residing in the same buildings and premises as the previous elementary school Vegård skole, which was shut down in 2015. Tyrifjorden
Tyrifjorden (Lake Tyri) is a lake in Norway. It lies northwest of Oslo and is the nation's fifth largest lake with an area of 139 km2. It has a volume of 13 km3, is 295 meters deep at its deepest, and lies 63 meters above sea level. The lake's primary source is the Begna river, which discharges into Tyrifjorden at Hønefoss where the river forms the waterfall of Hønefossen. Sundvollen
Sundvollen is a village in the municipality of Hole, in the county of Buskerud, Norway. Sundvollen is located along the east side of Tyrifjorden where the E16 crosses west over Steinsfjorden, the northeastern arm of Tyrifjorden, to Kroksund. The village had 801 inhabitants as of January 2009. Sundvollen (Sundvolden) was first the name of the local farm, which included much of the local real estate. The name is connected to the formation of the lake, which narrows in this area. In the census of 1801, 71 persons lived at and nearby the farm (both farmers and serfs with their families). From the farm, the hotel sprung, possibly as a wayside inn from first. As a crucial meeting point, the farm prospered from serving travelers going up to central Ringerike. Hole, Norway
Hole is a municipality in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Ringerike. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Vik. Hole is located around lake Tyrifjorden and extends to the woodland around Oslo. The soil is fertile and suited to growing fruit, berries and other agricultural products. The municipality of Hole was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The annex of Tyristrand was separated from Hole on 1 July 1916 to become a municipality of its own. The municipality of Hole was merged into the neighboring municipality of Ringerike in 1964, however, this merger ended in 1977 when Hole was restored as a separate municipality. Buskerud
Buskerud () is a former county and a current electoral district in Norway, bordering Akershus, Oslo, Oppland, Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland, Telemark and Vestfold. Ringerike is a municipality in the traditional and electoral district Buskerud in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Ringerike. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Hønefoss. The municipality of Ringerike was created on 1 January 1964 after the merger of the town of Hønefoss and the rural municipalities of Hole, Norderhov, Tyristrand, and Ã…dal. Krokskogen is a forested area which located outside of Oslo, Norway. It is a part of Oslomarka and is situated between Bærumsmarka, Vestmarka and Nordmarka.
