Ernst Steinhauer (9 December 1925 – 8 November 2005) was a West German sprint canoer who competed in the mid to late 1950s. He won two medals at the 1954 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Mâcon with a gold in the K-2 500 m and a bronze in the K-2 10000 m events. Gustav Steinhauer
Gustav Steinhauer was born in Berlin c. 1870. He was an officer of the Imperial German Navy who in 1901 became head of the British section of the German Admiralty's intelligence service, the Nachrichten-Abteilung, ('N'). He had trained at the Pinkerton Detective Agency in Chicago and spoke fluent English with an American accent. Steinhauer had been part of Kaiser Wilhelm II's bodyguard at the funeral of Queen Victoria in 1901. During the visit Steinhauer foiled an assassination plot by a group of Russian anarchists on the Kaiser's life, working alongside British detective and spymaster William Melville. Steinhauer was responsible for the creation of a network of German spies in Britain in the period before the war. Steinhauer had mostly recruited his agents through writing to German businessmen resident in the UK inviting them to work for him. Henry Bird Steinhauer (1820–1884) was a Canadian translator, missionary, and clergyman of the Methodist Church. Early life and education Steinhauer was born in Rama on Lake Simcoe in Ontario. He was born Chippewa Indian, likely named Sowengisik. He received the surname Steinhauer from a German family that adopted and educated him from a colonial perspective. Neal Steinhauer (August 18, 1944 – September 7, 2020) was an American track and field athlete. He won a silver medal in the shot put at the 1967 Pan American Games, behind Randy Matson, and also won two medals at the 1967 Summer Universiade in Tokyo (gold in the shot put and bronze in the discus). Orlondo Steinauer (born June 9, 1973) is the president of football operations and head coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). As a player, he played professional Canadian football as a safety for 13 seasons with the Ottawa Rough Riders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts from 1996 to 2008. He finished his career second all-time in CFL history for interception return yards with 1178 yards. Ralph Garvin Steinhauer, (June 8, 1905 – September 19, 1987) was the tenth lieutenant governor of Alberta, and the first Aboriginal person to hold that post.
