''Stegastes planifrons'' (threespot damselfish) is a damselfish from the Western Atlantic. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. Description The adult threespot damselfish is a brownish-grey, bony fish with a dusky yellow sheen and a large black spot at the base of the pectoral fins. It grows to 13 cm in length. The large dorsal fin has 12 spines and 15-17 soft rays. The anal fin has two spines and 13-14 soft rays. Neither the pectoral nor pelvic fins have spines.''Stegastes planifrons'' (Cuvier, 1830)

Key Largo ( es, Cayo Largo) is an island in the upper Florida Keys archipelago and is the largest section of the keys, at long. These fish are known by the names of damselfish, gregory and major. They are small tropical fish associated with coral and rocky reefs in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans. Hydroids are a life stage for most animals of the class Hydrozoa, small predators related to jellyfish. Some hydroids such as the freshwater '' Hydra'' are solitary, with the polyp attached directly to the substrate. When these produce buds, they become detached and grow on as new individuals.
